The best of you is the one who learns the Qur'aan and teaches it.

This thread is dedicated to the Tafsir of the Qur'aan.

Feel free to post referenced Tafsir of the Verses of the Qur'aan but please try to only include narrations which are authentic.

And [all] faces will be humbled before the Ever-Living, the Sustainer of existence. And he will have failed who carries injustice.

[Qur'aan 20:111]

Jabir bin Abdullah reported that Allah's Messenger (sallallaahu alayhi wa sallam) said:

Be on your guard against committing oppression, for oppression is a darkness on the Day of Resurrection, and be on your guard against stinginess for stinginess destroyed those who were before you, as it incited them to shed blood and make lawful what was unlawful for them.

[Sahih Muslim]

And whoever desires other than Islam as religion - never will it be accepted from him, and he, in the Hereafter, will be among the losers.

[Qur'aan 3:85]

This means that anyone who treads a path other that which Allaah has legislated, then it will not be accepted from him just like the following authentic hadith mentions:

'Aishah (May Allah be pleased with her) said:

The Messenger of Allah (sallallaahu alayhi wa sallam) said, "He who does something contrary to our way will have it rejected."

[Sahih Muslim]

And [mention] the man of the fish, when he went off in anger and thought that We would not decree [anything] upon him. And he called out within the darknesses, "There is no deity except You; exalted are You. Indeed, I have been of the wrongdoers."

[Qur'aan 21:87]

The Messenger of Allaah (sallallaahu alayhi wa sallam) said:

The supplication of Dhun-nuun (Prophet Yunus) when he supplicated, while in the belly of the whale was:

There is none worthy of worship except You. Glory to You. Indeed, I have been of the transgressors.

So indeed, no Muslim man supplicates with it for anything ever, except Allaah responds to him.

[Jaami' al-Tirmidhi Hadith 3505]

No! Rather, the stain has covered their hearts of that which they were earning.

[Qur'aan 83:14]

It was narrated from Abu Hurairah that the Messenger of Allah (sallallaahu alayhi wa sallam) said:

“When the believer commits sin, a black spot appears on his heart. If he repents and gives up that sin and seeks forgiveness, his heart will be polished. But if (the sin) increases, (the black spot) increases. That is the Ran that Allah mentions in His Book: “Nay! But on their hearts is the Ran (covering of sins and evil deeds) which they used to earn.” [83:14]

Indeed, you [disbelievers] and what you worship other than Allah are the firewood of Hell. You will be coming to [enter] it.

[Qur'aan 21:98]

The friends of Allaah who were worshiped after they died will not be thrown into the Fire and are not included in generality of the above Verse of the Qur'aan

Wealth and children are [but] adornment of the worldly life. But the enduring good deeds are better to your Lord for reward and better for [one's] hope.

[Qur'aan 18:46]

'Abdullah reported that the Messenger of Allah (sallallaahu alayhi wa sallam) said:

"Which of you prefers the money of heirs to his own money?"

"O Messenger of Allah," they replied, "there is none of us who does not prefer his own wealth to that of his heirs."

The Messenger of Allah (sallallaahu alayhi wa sallam) said, "Know that there is not one of you who does not prefer his heirs' money to his own.

Your wealth is what you have spent (for Allah) and the wealth of your heirs is what you leave."

[al-Adab al-Mufrad 153]

What you spend in the way of Allaah becomes everlasting good deeds. They are what will benefit you in the next world. They are what are truly yours.

The money you keep amassing is the money which will go to your heirs when you die.

If you do not spend your money in the way of Allaah, that means you love the wealth of your heirs more than your wealth because you are amassing it only to leave it behind for them and not sending forth any everlasting good deeds for yourself for the Day when nothing and no one will avail you except for the good you have done after Allaah bestows His Mercy on you.

And mention in the Book, Idriis. Indeed, he was a man of truth and a prophet.

And We raised him to a high station.

[Qur'aan 19:56-57]

Narrated Shaiban from Qatadah, that regarding Allah's saying: And we raised him to a high station [Qur'aan 19:57].

He said: "Anas bin Malik narrated that Allah's Prophet (sallallaahu alayhi wa sallam) said: "When I was brought up, I saw Idriis in the Fourth Heaven."

And to Allah belongs the east and the west. So wherever you [might] turn, there is the Face of Allah . Indeed, Allah is all-Encompassing and Knowing.

Qur'ān 2:115

Narrated Ibn 'Umar:

"The Messenger of Allah (sallallaahu alayhi wa sallam) would perform voluntary Salat upon his mount facing whichever direction he was headed, while he was coming from Makkah to al-Madinah." Then Ibn 'Umar recited: To Allah belong both the east and the west. [Qur'an 2:115]" And Ibn 'Umar said: "It was about this that the Ayah was revealed."

O you who have believed, upon you is [responsibility for] yourselves. Those who have gone astray will not harm you when you have been guided. To Allah is you return all together; then He will inform you of what you used to do.

[Qur’aan 5:105]

It was narrated that Qais bin Abu Hazim said:

“Abu Bakr stood up and praised and glorified Allah, then he said: ‘O people, you recite this Verse – “O you who believe! Take care of your own selves. If you follow the (right) guidance no hurt can come to you from those who are in error.” [Qur'aan 5:105] – and I heard the Messenger of Allah (sallallaahu alayhi wa sallam) say: ‘If people see some evil but do not change it, soon Allah will send His punishment upon them all.’” (One of the narrators) Abu Usamah repeated: "Indeed I heard that Messenger of Allah (sallallaahu alayhi wa sallam) say."

[Sunan Ibn Maajah Hadith No. 4005]

The above Verse was understood incorrectly by certain people. Abu Bakr (may Allaah be pleased with them) clarified the Verse.

The Sunnah is the Tafsiir of the Qur'aan. We abandon our interpretations of a Qur'aanic Verse when it opposes the Sunnah.

This was the way of the Companions (may Allaah be pleased with them).

Who knows the Religion better than the Companions (may Allaah be pleased with them)?

Be moderate in seeking provision

Do they not see that Allah extends provision for whom He wills and restricts [it]? Indeed, in that are signs for a people who believe.

[Qur'aan 30:37]

It was narrated from Jabir bin 'Abdullah that the Messenger of Allah (sallallaahu alayhi wa sallam) said:

"O people, fear Allah and be moderate in seeking a living, for no soul will die until it has received all its provision, even if it is slow in coming. So fear Allah and be moderate in seeking provision; take that which is permissible and leave that which is forbidden. "

Sins darken the heart

No! Rather, the stain has covered their hearts of that which they were earning.

[Qur’aan 83:14]

The Messenger of Allaah (sallallahu alayi wa sallam) said:

Verily, when the slave (of Allaah) commits a sin, a black spot appears on his heart. When he refrains from it, seeks forgiveness, and repents, his heart is polished clean. But if he returns, it increases until it covers his entire heart.

Always- try to cite proper reference i-e chapter and verse, when quote any extract from books, specially holy books.-
Quran was revealed on Prophet Muhammad (s.a.w) and portrays the Best Known code of conduct for laying down an exemplary socio-economical system (example of which is the era of Prophet s.a.w) and early caliphate, which is the best guide line for the whole world (NOT LIMITED TO MUSLIMS). During that era and onwards, there are many people despite being preached and warned, continues teasing and conspirating Prophet (s.a) and put hurdles not only in the propagation of Islam but started hurting Prophet, His companions and his followers, specially the one who are poor and orphan. This use to made Prophet (s.a) sad and the above verse represent its revelation in such kind of circumstance(s), when there is a need to inform and consolidate the Faith of Prophet (s.a.w) and His followers.Therefore,- This verse also represent such class of people who just wanted their point of view to be respected while ignoring and humilating others either face to face or by back biting. This verse is not implemented on non Muslims only but for all such people (including customary/by name Muslims)- who are arrogant to truth and, like many recent muslim/ other religious scholars, have gone astray and make other people astray to follow right path i-e the path of Allah (Creator of this Universe). However, this represent a class of people not individual and if any individual from such class repent to the truth then Allah him self said that He is- the most Merciful most Compassionate.

Hell

On the Day We will say to Hell, "Have you been filled?" and it will say, "Are there some more,"

[Qur’aan 50:30]

Narrated Anas bin Malik:

The Prophet (sallallaahu alayhi wa sallam) said, "The Hell Fire will keep on saying: 'Are there anymore (people to come)?' Till the Lord of Power and Honor will put His Foot over it and then it will say, 'Qat! Qat! (sufficient! sufficient!) by Your Power and Honor. And its various sides will come close to each other (i.e., it will contract). "

Do deeds only for Allaah. Do them only to Please Allaah.

And most of them believe not in Allah except while they associate others with Him.

[Qur'aan 12: 106]

Abu Hurairah (may Allaah be pleased with him) said:

The Messenger of Allah (sallallaahu alayhi wa sallam) said, "Almighty Allah says, 'I am the One Who is most free from want of partners. He who does a thing for the sake of someone else beside Me, I discard him and his polytheism."

[Sahih Muslim]

Ibn Abbaas said (regarding the above mentioned Verse): It was their Imaan that when they were asked: Who created the Heavens and Who created the Earth and Who created the mountains, they would reply: Allaah while they were polytheists.

Mujaahid said: Their Imaan was their saying that Allaah created us, feeds us, and causes us to die.

Believe in Allaah and all the things He has ordered you to believe in. Do not do shirk. Do good deeds only to please Him and nobody else. He will place love for you among His creation.

Indeed, those who have believed and done righteous deeds – the Most Merciful will appoint for them affection.

[Qur’aan 19:96]

Narrated Abu Huraira:

Allah's Messenger (sallallaahu alayhi wa sallam) said, "If Allah loves a person, He calls Gabriel, saying, 'Allah loves so and so, O Gabriel love him' So Gabriel would love him and then would make an announcement in the Heavens: 'Allah has loved so and-so therefore you should love him also.' So all the dwellers of the Heavens would love him, and then he is granted the pleasure of the people on the earth."

Close friends, that Day, will be enemies to each other, except for the righteous

[Qur'aan 43:67]

All friendships and companionship which were for other than the Sake of Allaah in this world will turn into enmity and hostility except for that which was for the Sake of Allaah for it will remain and continue to exist because He remains and continues to exist.

And this is just like what Ibraahiim (peace be upon him) said to his nation:

And [Abraham] said, "You have only taken, other than Allah , idols as [a bond of] affection among you in worldly life. Then on the Day of Resurrection you will deny one another and curse one another, and your refuge will be the Fire, and you will not have any helpers."

[Qur'aan 29:25] [1]

Mu'aadh bin Jabal narrated that the Messenger of Allah (sallallaahu alayhi wa sallam) said:

"Allah, the Mighty and Sublime, said: 'Those who love each other for the sake of My Majesty shall be upon podiums of light, and they will be admired by the Prophets and the martyrs.'"

Save yourself from the devil

O children of Adam, let not Satan tempt you as he removed your parents from Paradise, stripping them of their clothing to show them their private parts. Indeed, he sees you, he and his tribe, from where you do not see them. Indeed, We have made the devils allies to those who do not believe.

[Qur'aan 7:27]

Abu Hurayrah, may Allah be pleased with him, narrated that the Prophet sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) said:

“Whoever says a hundred times in a day: La Ilaaha Illa Allah Wahdahu La Shareeka Lah, Lahul Mulk Wa Lahul Hamd Wa huwa 'ala Kulli Shay'in Qadeer

(None has the right to be worshiped except Allah, Alone, without partners, to Him belongs all sovereignty and praise and He is over all things Omnipotent),

he will have a reward equivalent to that of emancipating ten slaves, a hundred good deeds will be recorded to his credit, a hundred of his sins will be wiped out from his record of bad deeds, and he will be safeguarded against the devil on that day till the evening; and no one will exceed him (in the reward that he attained), except someone who has recited these words more often than he did.”

Seek protection from Allaah against being sent to a feeble age

And Allah created you; then He will take you in death. And among you is he who is reversed to the most decrepit [old] age so that he will not know, after [having had] knowledge, a thing. Indeed, Allah is Knowing and Competent.

[Qur'aan 16:70]

Sa'd bin Abu Waqqas (May Allah be pleased with him) reported:

The Messenger of Allah (sallallaahu alayhi wa sallam) used to seek (Allah's) protection after prayers in these words: "Alla-humma inni a'udhu bika minal-jubni wal- bukhl, wa a'udhu bika min an uradda ila ardhalil-'umur, wa a'udhu bika min fitnatid-dunya, wa a'udhu bika min fitnatil-qabr (O Allah, I seek refuge with You from cowardice, miserliness and from being sent back to a feeble age; and, seek refuge with You from the trials of this life and those of the grave)."

Do not take bribery or bribe unless you want to be cursed

And do not consume one another's wealth unjustly or send it [in bribery] to the rulers in order that [they might aid] you [to] consume a portion of the wealth of the people in sin, while you know [it is unlawful].

[Qur'aan 2:188]

If you want Allaah to love you, follow the example of the Messenger of Allaah (sallallaahu alayhi wa sallam)

Say, [O Muhammad], "If you should love Allah , then follow me, [so] Allah will love you and forgive you your sins. And Allah is Forgiving and Merciful."

[Qur'aan 3:31]

'Aishah (May Allah be pleased with her) reported:

Messenger of Allah (sallallaahu alayhi wa sallam) said, "If anyone introduces in this matter of ours something which does not belong to it, will be rejected".

[Sahiih all-Bukhaari and Sahiih Muslim].

The narration in Muslim says: "If anybody introduces a practice which is not authenticated by me, it is to be rejected."

The believers are but brothers, so make settlement between your brothers. And fear Allah that you may receive mercy.

Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) said:

The Messenger of Allah (sallallaahu alayhi wa sallam) said, "It is not lawful for a Muslim to forsake his (Muslim) brother beyond three days; and whosoever does so for more than three days, and then dies, will certainly enter the Hell."

And leave what is apparent of sin and what is concealed thereof. Indeed, those who earn [blame for] sin will be recompensed for that which they used to commit.

Qur'ān 6:120

Apparent of sins refers to sins a person does openly.

What is concealed refers to the sins a person does in private.

Allah has commanded that both kinds of sins be given up.

O you who have believed, if you obey a party of those who were given the Scripture, they would turn you back, after your belief, [to being] unbelievers.

O you who have believed, if you obey those who disbelieve, they will turn you back on your heels, and you will [then] become losers.

Make peace between your Muslim brothers

No good is there in much of their private conversation, except for those who enjoin charity or that which is right or conciliation between people. And whoever does that seeking means to the approval of Allah - then We are going to give him a great reward.

[Qur'aan 4:114]

Narrated Um Kulthum bint `Uqba:

That she heard Allah's Messenger (sallallaahu alayhi wa sallam) saying, "He who makes peace between the people by inventing good information or saying good things, is not a liar."

[Sahiih al-Bukhaari Hadiith No. 2692]

Narrated Abu Darda':

The Prophet (sallallaahu alayhi wa sallam) said: Shall I not inform you of something more excellent in degree than fasting, prayer and almsgiving (sadaqah)? The people replied: Yes, Prophet of Allah! He said: It is putting things right between people, spoiling them is the shaver (destructive).

Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him narrates that the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bestow peace and blessings upon him) said, “There is a Surah in the book of Allah it is but thirty passages which intercedes for a man on the day of judgement so that he taken out of the fire and entered into paradise; it is Surah the Blessed.” (Abu Dawud 1400, At-Tirmidhi 2891 and Ibn Majah 3876.)

In a blessed Hades narrated by syiduna Anas it is said that when Allah Almighty gives blessing to person and he says “الحمد للہ” this praise is more superior then the blessing. Dear brother we should try to praise Allah Almighty to thank him whenever we receive any blessing. We should say “اَلْحَمْدُ لِلّٰهِ رَبِّ الْعٰلَمِیْنَۙ” whenever we get any blessing. If we make our routine to thank Allah Almighty then blessings will increase.
