View Full Version : a place for doubtful threads - other than on the latest posts section

:salam:I have noticed over the years that some new users come on the forum and post utterly nonsensical threads apparently geared towards doing nothing other than heaping ridicule on Islaam and Muslims - although we cannot be 100% certain of a person's intention - we can at least get a moderators' / trusted veteran users' / forum users' vote deciding whether to take such threads off the recently posted section.

I'm not talking about hiding grandmas and disabled or mentally challenged people lol , i'm talking about leaving such threads exactly as threads with a "authenticity doubted/rejected by leadership" note at the top - in order to accept responsibility and make the opinion of those entrusted with responsibility clear to less aware users/visitors - but off the latest posts window where they play games of falsehood.

A button allowing such so that mods can be alerted after a certain number of pushes from trusted members might be useful.

And Allah :swt: knows best.

Assalamu Alaikum,

This is something that would manually need to be done each time because I don't think there's a feature that weeds out falsehood. You can always report a thread and give us those details to have it done. If a post is reported multiple times by members, then it is placed under moderation automatically. If it is a thread we allow for discussion, then I guess that's when the truth becomes invaluable. Although if no discussions are taking place and someone has a strong agenda against islam by posting multiple threads of similar content or if their posts are causing fitna for the forum and breaking forum rules, then of course this is something that needs to be removed entirely, not just from recent posts feature. Recently posted feature is just a tool that shows the forum is active. If the thread is active and refutations, corrections, etc. are going on then there's probably not a need to have it removed from there. If it is not useful or beneficial for discussion, then it's probably not useful for the forum either.

Asalaam alaykum

You could make it a rule that Brothers and Sisters who say something in the name of Islam, or say that such and such is what Islam says, then they need to back that up with proof and evidence.

18. Do not say "Islam says X" unless your position is based upon sound evidence - which means the Qur'an and the Sunnah. Always cite your sources. If quoting the Qur'an, give soorah (chapter) and ayah (verse) number. For ahadeeth, you must the name of the collection, volume/book number and hadeeth number. Unless you quoting from an agreed-upon authenthic collection (i.e. Bukharee, Muslim) you must also provide authenthic information.
