As-Salaam alaikum,
Abdullah Ibn Amr, may Allah be pleased with him, says that one day the Prophet, Sallallahu alaihi Wasallam, was talking about prescribed prayers and he said:--

"Whoso is regular in his prayers it will illumine his face, testify to the firmness
of his faith and be the cause of his salvation on the Day of Judgement. And
whoso neglects the prayers will neither acquire any glow nor staunchness of
faith nor any means of salvation and he will join, on the Day of Resurrection,
the company of Korah (Qarun), Pharaoh, Haman and Ubay bin Khalaf."
(Ahmad, Darimi, Baihaqi).

Key is to establish prayers and not to just perform some robotic actions without any understanding. If we can establish prayers then it will definitely save us from evils and haram. Understanding Quran Arabic is a must to understand what we are reciting during prayers and what that means.

Alhamdulillah I am. When I first reverted, I was told that salah is one of the pillars of Islam, so it makes perfect sense for me that as a muslim, I cannot abandon it
It took me several months to perform it properly step by step and to pronounce everything as accurate as I can, including learning some Arabic so I understand what I am saying.
In the beginning I did it to fulfill obligation to Allah, but as time goes by, I start experiencing the benefits of salah as well ( one of the benefits is mentioned in surah Al-Ankabut ) and so I can't see any reason not to offer salah regularly and promptly.

More hadiths I found about salah :

Narrated Jabir: that the Prophet (ﷺ) said: "Between disbelief and faith is abandoning the Salat." (Jami'at-Tirmidhi)

Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said, "The five (daily) Salat (prayers) and the Friday (prayer) to the Friday (prayer) expiate whatever (minor sins) may be committed in between, so long as major sins are avoided." (Sahih Muslim)

On the authority of Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) from the Prophet (ﷺ), who said:
Allah (mighty and sublime be He) says: The first of his actions for which a servant of Allah will be held accountable on the Day of Resurrection will be his prayers. If they are in order, then he will have prospered and succeeded: and if they are wanting, then he will have failed and lost. If there is something defective in his obligatory prayers, the Lord (glorified and exalted be He) will say: See if My servant has any supererogatory prayers with which may be completed that which was defective in his obligatory prayers. Then the rest of his actions will be judged in like fashion. Jamiat-Tirmidhi, Sunan Abu Dawud, Sunan an-Nasa'i, Sunan Ibn Majah and Ahmad).
