Importance of Dua/supplication

Can dua change taqdeer or fate or destiny. Ive heard mix reviews about it.

When something like this comes with mixed opinions, you need to consider the evidence behind each side of the argument and come up with your own conclusion. My belief is that yes, it can. If not, why would one even make dua?
