السلام عليكم ورحمة الله وبركاته I know that this has been happening for quite some time, but I am becoming increasingly more conflicted over things that have been happening this year. First COVID 19, which is still an ongoing issue, second, I've received news that murder hornets (which are extremely dangerous bugs) have been released in North America, and third, I have seen that meteorologists have been predicting a terrible hurricane season coming up. Is Allah punishing us? Or is this just a trial? Why are all of these happening??

If you have been following the news around the world, you will know that things have been going worse for a long time now.
It's just that some of these news do not come out right away. Also due to technology, more news around the world can be published and viewed by more people easier and faster than before.
Many hadiths about the Hour mentions about time that passes quickly, more tribulations, more killings, life becomes harder - as we get closer to the Hour.
One hadith says this specifically about life as it gets closer to the Hour.

[FONT=&quot]Narrated Az-Zubair bin `Adi: We went to Anas bin Malik and complained about the wrong we were suffering at the hand of Al- Hajjaj. Anas bin Malik said, "Be patient till you meet your Lord, for no time will come upon you but the time following it will be worse than it. I heard that from the Prophet." (Sahih Bukhari)
