Assalam o Alaikum rahamutullahi wa barakuthu.

Is it wrong to worship Allah seeking His Face only? I don't have really much desire for Jannah, but afraid of going to Hellfire. am i going against islam? I do not doubt that Jannah is not like this world, for it is place which no ears has heard, no heart has imagined and no eyes has seen it. but I believe that the greatest thing is seeing His Face, and that it is better than Jannah. of course, only Jannah is way to see Allah's Face. I even only ask Allah to grant me into jannat-ul-firdaus just for seeing His Face.
But after reading this fatwa.

https://islamqa.info/en/answers/1047...-your-paradise.

Is it same as what I said? Am i putting myself at risk?

Walekumassalam
They said that we should worship Allah out of love, fear and hope right? And should ask for paradise as well. So that's what you should do. Paradise isn't just about materialistic pleasures, like they said, it's about gaining the pleasure of Allah and seeing Him as well. Yeah? So if you ask for just paradise, there's nothing wrong I guess, but keep in mind that when you'll attain paradise, then only you'll be able to see Allah SWT. Indeed, it's the greatest blessing.
I would still recommend you to ask this from some alim. I don't wanna misguide you.

I think personally worshiping Allah for the sake of seeing him, is a good thing because it shows how much you love him. Allah knows best

Assalam o Alaikum rahamutullahi wa barakuthu.

On the fatwa, it says that the worship of Allah is based on love, fear and hope. I agree with this. I want to know if what i am doing is wrong or not.

We already know that Prophets who were greatest people and no one can compete with them, too desired Paradise, and sought refuge with Allah from Hellfire.

May Allah make us among people of Jannat-ul-Firdaus who will see His Face.

Asalaamualaykum:

Before I answer, I want to clarify in what you actually saying:

a) You have a desire to see God
b) You believe hell exists and dont want to go to hell.
c) (This is where I am lost in your thinking) You believe that to see God you have to go heaven....but you dont want to go heaven for the other pleasures, you want to go to heaven just to see God.

Is this correct ?

Assalam o alaikum rahmatullahi wa Barakatuhu

Yes

Of course it is belief of islam that hellfire exists. I am afraid of hellfire. I cannot bear its punishment even for a nano second.

I dont really have desire for jannah. And because It is only place to see Allah. I ask Allah to grant me Jannat ul firdaus so I can look at Him.

Asalaamualaykum:

If what you saying is the epitome display to prove ones love for Allah SWT, then don't you think the most beloved creation of Allah SWT, non other than Rasool SAW, would have rejected the remaining pleasures of Jannah only for the same reason as yourself ?

If what you are thinking is of piety, then don't you think that Jannah would have a totally different ranking whereby people are given no pleasures only but the pleasure of the sight of Allah SWT ? Neither in the Quran nor Traditions of Rasool SAW is such a ranking mentioned.

Turning down a Rahma and mercy from Allah SWT is insulting that attribute of Allah SWT. Its like God gives you a mercy but you reckon you dont need that mercy. (Im 100 percent sure you dont intend this but effectively thats how it will be presented) Jannah itself together will all its pleasures is a mercy from Allah SWT. So to say "I dont want Jannah for its pleasures" is a misguided self opinionated concept.

To be fair to you, you are saying you'd accept Jannah for that one main reason, however, to negate the rest of Jannah with all its offerings, is like telling Allah SWT "You shouldn't have bothered with the rest of the pleasures"

I do admire you for asking the question and seeking advice, it takes a bold person to ask a big question.

MashAllah.
