:salam:

I have been lacking in Deen for a while now but Al Hamdulillah I want to get back on track. I'd like to start reading the Quran on a daily basis and eventually memorize and understand what I read. Would any of you care to give me a good recommendation on an English translation of the Quran with the Arabic text and its Tafsir? There are multiple translations and I don't know which one to get. Are there any that use a more modern English translation. And by modern I don't mean a watered down version of it like the Kuffar are trying to do with Islam, just something that would make it easier to read and understand.

I recommend Noor-ul-Irfan. It's the tafseer my usthaad recommended and I find it to be much better than those available in mobile apps. There are free pdf copies you can search for, or get a physical copy from eBay.

May Allah help you succeed in your goal to recite daily, and may He strengthen your iman.

I just checked out a couple pages online and noticed how detailed it was. Would you happen to have a link for a physical copy? I seem to be having problems finding it.

I personally would recommend :

https://m.clearquran.com/

It is easy to understand without the use of Shakespearean type English and the format is great if you are using from your phone, making it very comfortable to read Quran throughout your day when you have time.

I would also recommend having a recitor on whilst you are reading the translation. My favourite are Hani Rifaai, Saad Ghamadi and Abu Bakr Shatery.

Here you can hear all the recitors and make your own connection in terms of which you prefer :

http://www.all-quran.com/

Following the recitor for me means that I can register and link the Arabic words directly with the English which helps. So as you go on, you will notice and recognise when the same words are repeated and more likely to remember their meaning.

This tafseer is apparently based upon 'Kanzul Iman' which was written by Ahmad Raza Khan, the founder of the Barelwi sect. This sect is well-known for it false ideologies, based on exaggeration about the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم and the righteous. The following links have more information about this group.
https://islamqa.info/en/answers/1502...is-or-barelvis

For this reason, I would strongly advise not reading such a commentary. It is better to stick to the well-known classical tafaseer by the great scholars such as Ibn Kathir, as-Sa'di, Al-Qurtubi, and others. If you are simply looking for translations of the meanings of the Qur'an then some have already been suggested. I came across the following video which you may also find helpful:

Assalaamu Alaikum,

I would personally recommend The Noble Quran by Mufti Muhammad Taqi Uthmani. A translation with concise summarised commentary of the entire Qur'an in 2 volumes. It's very easy to understand and puts many verses into context which would not be understood otherwise. Highly recommended to all:

:jz: for your recommendation. That along with what eesa the kiwi suggested are exactly what I need. I am just going to have to hold off for a little bit since I am not in the U.K. and the delivery fee would be $50. :ia: I will be able to get it next month.
