Salm alaykum.. i've been stealing(money) from this person from time to time, i've repented from all my mistakes/sins, but when i've been searching about repent from stealing, i read, that u should give it back, and ask for forgiveness, and Allah(swt) doesnt forgive those sins, its the person whom i've stole from that needs to forgive me.. but the problem is, that the person is dead, and im afraid that i cant be forgiven from that. But i thought about giving money(halal ofcourse) to the family as i know them, and i wont tell them why, as i dont want my sin to be exposed.. or i can donate to the poor, that matches amount of money i stole from that guy.. i dont live far from his grave too.. is it something that i can dO? Like making Dua/speaking to him, telling him what i did. And will Allah forgive me, if i donate money to the family/charity. :/ Im scared that this mistake cant be forgiven, as the person is dead, so i can ask him for forgiveness :((

Do not hesitate to repent, and do not think of the magnitude of the sin, for no sin is too great for Allah to forgive; He, may He be glorified, is the Oft-Forgiving, the Most Merciful, the Acceptor of repentance. He forgives kufr (disbelief) and shirk (association of others with Him) and lesser sins; He forgives a few sins and many sins, great sins and insignificant sins.

With regard to the money that you took, you have to return it if you are able to do so. So try to figure out what you took, and return it by any means you can, without telling anyone about that. You know what to do: Return the money to the family, stating it is money owed to the deceased member.

If you are unable to do any of that, then it is a debt that you owe, and if Allah causes you to die before you return it to its owners, then if you have repented sincerely, there is the hope that Allah will pardon you and will compensate the owners of that property for their loss.
