WaAlaikum Assalam WaRahmatullhi WaBarakatuhu,
We can answer this question in one of the two ways:
  1. To define morals such as what is good and what is bad. People say that these morals can be defined by a society but we see that the definition of morals change person to person and society to society. Just like we need local laws to have peace in the society, we need Devine law to make sure good and bad are clearly defined and not left for people to interpret at their own.
  2. Suppose we buy a machine. Would we need an instruction manual to assemble the machine and to troubleshoot common issues? If that the case with a machine, human beings are for more complex and do need an instruction manual by their Creator to make sure they don’t go against their nature and that instruction manual is Quran and Sunnah ( religion of Islam).

I hope you find that helpful. If anyone else has anything to add please feel free to do so.

jazaki Allah khair for asking this question!
Ma’aSalam

Because without Islam (not any religion either) without Allah's guidance, humanity will destroy each other and the planet itself in less than ten years. Without Islam, confusion and ambiguity will be the hallmark! The weak will be oppressed in ways that we cannot fathom and that is usually the children. The voiceless. We will spread fasaad on planet than less than 50 years became inhabitable. Without guidance we will live worse than animals, without Islam we will be depressed and our hearts constraint, even the mother love to her offspring will be extinguished and we will live like how rat mother eat her young. Worse than animals.

Great example of what life is without Islam, observe the disbelievers and the Atheists and see how they live in their daily lives. Watch their family unity and their empty existence. Watch how materialistic they are.

So live your life as a good Muslims; that the fear of death can never enter your heart. Trouble no one about their religion; respect others in their view, and demand that they respect yours. Love your life, perfect your life, beautify all things in your life.

Seek to make your life long and its purpose in the service of your people. Always say Salaam when meeting or passing a friend, even a stranger, when in a lonely place. Show respect to all people and grovel to none.

When you arise in the morning, say Alhumdulillah give thanks for the food and for the joy of living. If you see no reason for giving thanks, the fault lies only in yourself.

Abuse no one and no thing, for abuse turns the wise ones to fools and robs the spirit of its vision.

When it comes your time to die, be not like those whose hearts are filled with the fear of death, so that when their time comes they weep and pray for a little more time to live their lives over again in a different way. Always remember, whether someone has passed away or not, whether they received bad news or devastating news, whether they are Muslim or Non-Muslim, we should say:
Inna Lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji'un - Indeed we belong to Allah, and Indeed to Him shall we return -

Because religion gives you answers you cannot obtain any other way.

Because science alone is not enough to explain everything.

Because you instinctively end up by religion anyways whether you want it or not.

An example:
One morning you wake up and find yourself in a speeding train...but you cant remember boarding a train...you look around and see that you are not alone in the train but no one seems to care...they talk to each other about daily stuff, they laugh, some are reading a book or they stare at their phones, etc, etc.
but no one seems to worry about the train and where it is headed to...when you will arrive...how long you have been traveling...nothing about your journey....and nothing what will happen when you arrive at your destiny. They just sit around, doing their daily stuff, minding their own business...

But if you think about it...isn't that strange?
We woke up in this world...we do not know how did we get here, how long will we stay on this world, what is our destiny, what will happen with us when we finally reach our destiny?

Wouldn't those be the most important questions that pop up in your head in such a weird situation?

But if you look around you...nobody seems to care...they are in the exact same situation as you are...but somehow they ignore or push those questions away and try to occupie themself with other less important questions.

God created the universe and life, God has to give the greatest meaning to our lives, and there is a need to search for God.

Wa alaykum salam,

The question is a flawed one. It presumes that (all) religions are made up.

To make apparent the flaw in the question, imagine instead that they asked: why do we need parents?

No sane person would argue that asking why we need parents is a silly thing to do, because everyone has parents and their existence is obvious.

Religion, Islam in particular - when one has iman, then the initial question would appear as silly as asking about parents because the existence of Allah is obvious to that person. The flaw is that the asker has already made up their mind that religions are false.

Instead of giving validation to that kind of question, it would be better to provide proofs for the of Islam first and foremost. Everything else would follow from that. You don't have anything to gain by answering that question as you would only be playing their game.
