Seek best manners first before knowledge

Islam enjoins seeking good manners. The Prophet peace be upon him had most beauitful manners. Allah mentions about him in quran

Al-Ahzab 33:21

Indeed in the Messenger of Allah (Muhammad SAW) you have a good example to follow for him who hopes in (the Meeting with) Allah and the Last Day and remembers Allah much.

Al-Qalam 68:4

And verily, you (O Muhammad SAW) are on an exalted standard of character.

Hazrat Aisha said that the character of Prophet peace be upon him was Quran (source: Muslim 746)

It is reported in ahadith

Abu Huraira reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said:

Verily, I have only been sent to perfect righteous character.

Hadith

‏‏‏

Narrated `Abdullah bin `Amr:

The Prophet (ﷺ) never used bad language neither a "Fahish nor a Mutafahish. He used to say "The best amongst you are those who have the best manners and character." (See Hadith No. 56 (B) Vol. 8)

Hadith

Narrated `Abdullah bin `Amr:

Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) neither talked in an insulting manner nor did he ever speak evil intentionally. He used to say, "The most beloved to me amongst you is the one who has the best character and manners." He added, " Learn the Qur'an from (any of these) four persons. `Abdullah bin Mas`ud, Salim the freed slave of Abu Hudhaifa, Ubai bin Ka`b, and Mu`adh bin Jabal."

The early generation of islam used to seek manners first before knowledge. Sufyan al-Thawri, may Allah have mercy on him, said:

If a man intended to write the hadīth, he would study good manners and worship for twenty years before doing so.
