Hadeeth: Trials of the mu'mineen

Can we have a discussion and elaboration on the following saheeh hadeeth please



Let the parameters of this discussion be kept within the dunya we live in as opposed to going beyond death. Correct me if I am wrong...

A learned person has advised me that the above refers to the concept of tests and trials not ceasing for a believer until the sins of the believer have been expiated....

Those in difficult situations, I say to you, do continue to exercise sabr and istighfar.....
Those tested severely have to change a lot of their ways in order to be saved from trials.
