Hello,

I would love your opinion on the following.

Something different than X is not X, even at a different time and place.

So, it means that a red box is not a green one, will not be green and was not green, because a green box is different than a red one. A square object is not a circular one, will not be circular, and was not circular. An existent object is not a non-existent one, will not be non-existent and was not non-existent.

But we see change all the time, how can it be possible?

I do not exactly follow what your point is.

If we are talking about change, then:

Something different than X is not X, BUT something different than X can be changed into X...not always, but sometimes it is possible.

a red box or a green box or whatever color, is just a box with paint on it. you can paint the box in any color you like, or you can change the color of the box by re-painting it.

the shape of an object is a little more complex depending on the material.
A square wooden or metal object can be made round but it will be of a smaller volume.
However, a square clay object can be reshaped in any form as long as the is still soft.

change and change can be different things and cannot be compared with each other. Some changes are reversible, others are not.

This means that you need to be more specific about what kind of change you want to talk about.

Hello Umit,

I'm sorry that I was not able to explain it very well. I am still struggling with that. Imagine looking at a computer screen and there is a square in a video that changes to a circle. To viewers it seems like the square changed into a circle, when upon closer examination, it actually just disappears and gets replaced with a circle, creating the illusion of the square turning into a circle. That explains why things seem to change into something else in real life, but according to my first post, things shouldn't be able to even become non-existent, so it is very perplexing.

İ'm still having trouble understanding what you exactly mean...but a computer screen is just a computer screen...and everything is possible on a computerscreen.
Squares can turn into circles...dragons can fly and spit fire...aliens can warp through wormholes in their high tech ships...apes can conquer the world...
So what you see on a computerscreen can be different from reality.
İf that is what you mean.

What I mean by what I said about the computer screen is that a square doesn't actually turn into a circle, instead the lights that create the square, turn off or change color and new colors get turned on to make a circle, creating the illusion of a square becoming a circle.

İn that case, we are both talking about the same thing. Dragons spitting fire is also nothing than a few leds turning on and off...nothing to do with reality.

So we both agree on that...but what is the point you are trying to make?

The reason I was posting was to just get some opinions on the first post.
