View Full Version : Question regarding missed Salah.

So I have reverted nearly 2 months ago.

Life has been hard and for the past 4 days I let shaytan get to me and I started questioning my faith.
I have now realized what I have done and intend to make up for the Salah I missed these days, but I still have remaining questions.

Do I make to make up for the Salat I missed, just after I reverted? This being the Salat where I didn't know how to pray yet.
I have asked some people and some sisters in my mosque (including teachers at the madrassah) have informed me that since I didn't know how to pray I don't need to make them up, since I was still learning. But whenever I research more about the topic online (which I found very little about) comments are mixed on wether or not you should make up for these Salat.

It just doesn't feel right for me not to make them up without being sure if that is what I am supposed to do.

Jazakallah Khair, to anybody that stumbles across this post.

السلام عليكم ورحمة الله وبركاته أختي

Majority of the jurists are of the view that it obligatory to make up missed salah. It is also obligatory to make up salah if prayed without due ritual impurity, be it intentional or because of forgetfulness/ignorance.

However, some scholars also held different opinions and there is no harm in acting in accordance to it since you were still in the learning stage.

But following the view of majority of jurists would be more safe in terms of clearing one’s liability from the obligation.

جزاك الله خيرًا

Since you have got time anyway why not start making up for them?

As a born Muslim that didnt pray for 6 years after puberty, I have been slowly but surely making up for my prayers. You dont have to make up everything, just the Fard salah.

I personally have stripped most Sunnah acts for the missed prayers and only do what the obligatory acts are. Saves me a bit of time when making up in chunks.

May Allah reward you and keep you steadfast and firm upon His religion

First of all, there is absolutely no need for you to make up the prayers which you have missed before you reverted to Islam. In fact, it is not even required in Ahlul Sunnah Waal Jamaah to do this. What is important for you is to actually perform the prayers after you reverted to Islam which is a duty which Allah imposed upon the Children of Adam.

With regards to what you know about prayer is baseless.

I don’t know if you know Arabic, but in case you don’t know Arabic, you must strive quickly to learn how to speak, write and read. Because, a prayer is invalid if one did not recited Surah al Fatihah in Arabic, and Arabic it is the language of Prayer by the way.

And also, you should know that if you have missed a prayer with a legitimate excuse such as unintentional sleep or forgetfulness, then the expiation for it is to make up the prayer you missed.

You asked about how to pray, yea? I have found an easy method for you, and this is also what I have used after reverting to Islam:

You said that you don’t know how to pray step by step? Here’s a video:

Assalam walikum warahmatullah e wa barakhatuhu,
As a Muslim it is our duty to perform Salah. The Salah which you have missed you should make up them . whatever you were learning or not because you were not 7 years old . You were older than this so it is farz after 7 years . But if you were not a Muslim then you shouldn't. Because you were not a Muslim . Narrated Jabir:
that the Prophet (ﷺ) said: "Between disbelief and faith is abandoning the Salat."
Grade: Sahih (Darussalam)
Reference : Jami` at-Tirmidhi 2618
In-book reference : Book 40, Hadith 13
When you had missed them you should make up them . Because will never be forgiven.
Jazaki Allahu khairen .
