I think it would be a great idea for people to find out why members are being banned.

Well, perhaps a description of which rules were broken. I think posting personal/private messages is a breach in respect and judgement. To be told someone was colluding in a negative way through PM in a manner that was deprimental to the forum is much more sincere that actually posting the text.

It's just a question of respecting peoples right to privacy no matter what they may have done.

Sorry I disagree. It is clearly stated that PM's can be monitored. Furthermore, if you read some PM's of people who were banned, you can see that they were planning something quite disrespectful and rude to say the least. The ban prevented them from doing so.

We are judged by our intentions and the PM’s proved that their intentions were not as they appeared to be at all.

I agree, can you also show me where it says they will be posted on a public forum

Agreed, and that is presumably why a forum requires moderators to ensure issues like this are spotted and dealt with.

We are judged by our intentions and the PM’s proved that their intentions were not as they appeared to be at all.
Are we not judged on our actions then? I simply fail to see how public display of wrong doing is required, if that was so why can't we all access each others PM's to ensure intentions are honourable

It was posted on a public forum to insure that people knew why they were banned. It is like (hypothetically) when someone commits a crime, people need to know what crime they have committed to form an opinion. If we were left in the blue without knowing why they were banned and without evidence, we may doubt the mods intentions for banning them. Posting the PM's cleared the doubts from people’s minds (in most cases I presume).
We can’t all access each other's PM's because we are considered the people, not the authority, the mods here are the authority and they have the right to do so as they stated. No one is forced to join this forum, they do so by choice and having done so need to abide by the rules.

Theres no need to remove it as only a small minority are thinking your way. YOu dont like it, then please dont use it. Its simple, and you dont have to make a big deal out of it.

We considered making an explanation thread, but for now we have settled with the idea of posting a link in the banned user's signature which links to the post explaining their ban. The recent bannings have been the result of one banned member's 14 attempts to return to the forum, and a few attempts by another.

Like I said, one member has tried to return to the forums 14 times (actually 15 now, with an attempt to post pornography). We didn't bother posting the links for each one. If no link is present it means that either a) the user is a previously banned user or b) the user is a troll or spammer or other types who attack the forum with inappropriate (often obscene) material.
