... half the words used in this forum! :-\
I jotted down just a few:
dajjal
dawah
du'as
ummah
surah ...

I know that these words make sense to most of you, and that they are part of your everyday - and I am not expecting anybody to not use them.

But if as a poor non-Muslim I am to make sense and learn from half the threads going on here, I have to find some kind of dictionary.

Is there such a thing on this site, and I just haven't found it yet?
Or could one be set up?
Or could anybody mae any other suggesions?

Thanks,
glo

That's cool, Alpha Dude. Thank you! :)

But if I posted a message every time I don't know a word, I'd be here all day - and so would you!
So there's got to be another way ...

Do you have a spare week or two to write me an entire dictionary? ;D

That's a good idea actually. I think there should be a specialised stickied thread for Arabic words commonly used on the forum, for the sake of clarity.

Thank you!
I saw that sticky, but it's not really what I was looking for.
Rather than sayings and phrases, I need translations of individual words as they crop up in messages. Does that make sense?

Because they're 'stuck' to the top of the forum. Even if other threads get more posts, they'll never overtake stickied ones.

There are lots of websites with the meanings of commonly used words by muslims, for example....

I'm sure there are more and just ask anyone on the thread when you don't know what something means :):):)

But Alpha Dude is a Muslim himself, so i am assuming he is talking about the Islamic 'anti-Christ'!
I guess it leads to the question, who, in Islam, is Christ?
That way we may be clearer about who the anti-Christ is.

dawah...........Inviting non-muslims to Islam

wrong... is not only for non-muslims... it is for the muslims too...(not just who is not at the right path... but to give advice to all muslims so that we'll be always in the right path)

islam is about giving advice....

Well alot of people use words from their own languange, even while they speak in English. I think that is where the term Spanglish comes from, using spanish words, while speaking English.

But you normally see this a lot, regardless of what language is being used in English. Like if you went to a Japanese Cultural forum or Anime Forum, you would be seeing a lot of Konnichiwa (Good Morning) and Hai (Yes).

Since this is an Islamic forum, you would see alot of Islamic words. It's just how the multicultural community like the internet works, but majority of such content depends on the domain.

Peace,
In Islam Christ(pbuh) Is Isa Ibn Mariam, Jesus the Son of Mary. He was born of a pious Virgin woman.

3:42. Behold! the angels said: "O Mary! Allah hath chosen thee and purified thee- chosen thee above the women of all nations. S P C

3:43. "O Mary! worship Thy Lord devoutly: Prostrate thyself, and bow down (in prayer) with those who bow down." S P
3:44. This is part of the tidings of the things unseen, which We reveal unto thee (O Messenger!) by inspiration: Thou wast not with them when they cast lots with arrows, as to which of them should be charged with the care of Mary: Nor wast thou with them when they disputed (the point). S P C

3:45. Behold! the angels said: "O Mary! Allah giveth thee glad tidings of a Word from Him: his name will be Christ Jesus, the son of Mary, held in honour in this world and the Hereafter and of (the company of) those nearest to Allah; S P C
3:46. "He shall speak to the people in childhood and in maturity. And he shall be (of the company) of the righteous." S P C

3:47. She said: "O my Lord! How shall I have a son when no man hath touched me?" He said: "Even so: Allah createth what He willeth: When He hath decreed a plan, He but saith to it, 'Be,' and it is! S P C
3:48. "And Allah will teach him the Book and Wisdom, the Law and the Gospel, S P
3:49. "And (appoint him) a messenger to the Children of Israel, (with this message): "'I have come to you, with a Sign from your Lord, in that I make for you out of clay, as it were, the figure of a bird, and breathe into it, and it becomes a bird by Allah's leave: And I heal those born blind, and the lepers, and I quicken the dead, by Allah's leave; and I declare to you what ye eat, and what ye store in your houses. Surely therein is a Sign for you if ye did believe; S P C

3:50. "'(I have come to you), to attest the Law which was before me. And to make lawful to you part of what was (Before) forbidden to you; I have come to you with a Sign from your Lord. So fear Allah, and obey me. S P
3:51. "'It is Allah Who is my Lord and your Lord; then worship Him. This is a Way that is straight.'" S P
3:52. When Jesus found Unbelief on their part He said: "Who will be My helpers to (the work of) Allah?" Said the disciples: "We are Allah's helpers: We believe in Allah, and do thou bear witness that we are Muslims. S P C
