Oh. So it's not a loan or anything you have to payback? Just straight money to go and study? Wow, what field is this then?

Let me guess, you're also genuinely interested in this field too, right.

of course i am...its therapeutic radiography...sounds kinda like a beauty treatment although its not...erm..yep of course im interested in it...i cant lie and say i didnt know about the whole tuition fee thing and how i fell in love and all with it...i mean at first i was thinking huh? no way not for me...then i actually made the effort to do research into and thought hey coolio as ive always wanted to go into the whole healthcare thing but not a doc or nurse so seemed like a cool thing for me to do...especially as i can spread out into the field of researching inshaAllah and also not a lot of muslim people do it...so that kinda appealed to me...also ive had a personal experience of a friend who was diagnosed with cancer...i mean half my friends didnt even know what a radiotherapist was..one thought it was a DJ...hmmm

I don’t know where I want to study, my options are uni of Manchester, UCL, Kings College, or Al-Azhar, as of yet and as to what I want to study, It’ll either be Arabic and Islamic studies if I go to study in Egypt and if I stay in the UK then it’ll be optometry, dentistry or pharmacy. Don’t know….I like all of them.

No taking out loans for me inshallah

:sl:

oh well im in first year and at my uni first year optom is like a basic science course, we do just plain chemistry biology physics and a vision science subject, so we can prepare for the following years, which seems to imply that Physics/Biology/Chemistry are pretty important. maths is important too but not full on imprtant really more of a basic understanding required. with physics its really more the optic side of things that is more important later one and bio is just generally pretty important for understanding the eye and even the body as a whole (which we need to know, physiology, biochemistry and stuff).

we dont have clinical things until much later on, um well because optom at my uni is actually based around a clinic, we get to work at that clinic before we go round to other places.

but im loving the optom related subject!! (vision science) alhamdulilah

I think its the teaching. theres not enough qualified muslim teachers in darulooms with the relevant degrees so because of this the teaching is poor.

Many of the universities and colleges in the U.S. are excellent to study at, especially in New York. So many people come from the other states to study in NY, also so many people from other countries. if you want to know what the best universities in NY are they're NYU, Columbia, Cornell and theres a bunch of others. NY also has the best public university system in the nation called the City University of New York, which is made up of 19 different colleges, a couple of which are considered top schools such as Brooklyn College and Hunter College(in Manhattan). They're both very good schools and i had a hard time choosing one over the other.
