well i used to smoke but don't anymore, therefoer i know lots of my mates smoke but they are encouraging poor behaviour so all i can do is telling them whats right and whats wrong but if they refuse to lisetn then god knows i did my bit to tell them off,on the otherhand some of my friends are christians which do not believe that islam is the truth religion whereas i have reverted and i believe it is but if they refuse to listen to me and constanly reminded to stop smoking i just have to be quiet and pray for them that god leads them to the right path also it's there parents where they pick it up from,so they should either take Nicotine patches cause it is hard at time but it works cause it worked for me too,but then again i guarantee most christians mates of mine will refuse to listen but all i care is telling a person makes them do it more but have the right intention and telling them is only between god and you who knows about this.
so my advice is telling them the right but if they refuse to listen then why waste your time just pray for them that god leads them to the right path.

This is the Book (the Quran), whereof there is no doubt, a guidance to those who are Al-Muttaqoon (the pious and righteous persons who Fear allah much (abstain from all kinds of sins and evil deeds which He has forbidden) and love allah much (perform all kinds of good deeds which He has ordained)).

Tell them fear allah abd abstain for all kinds of sins. If they dont listen to you, go to a place (ex: Downtown ) and show them reality were people used to do these things and allah took their blessings away and made them homeless.

nope trust me its no lectures..its all about seeing the consequences for yourself...i went to the local cancer unit for a clinical placement and man it made me think....and i dont even smoke...

If one of my friends was smoking or doing drugs, I'd be tempted to pound some sense into him. But I would probably just adise them that its haraam, prolonged suicide, and also show them the harmful effects of smoking.

Smoking is a terrible habit, draws little benefit, and I have seen one uncle who is in a extremely bad condition because of it. He need to take an oxygen mask with him everywhere, and cannot walk 5 meters without becoming breathless.

Smoking is neither cool, nor will it make you "bad". Seriously, kids these days think smoking makes them look smart, I just pray that they don't have to look like idiots when they're in a bad state, and that they quit before its too late inshallah.

one of my friends use to smoke the best time to stop is during ramadan , my friends kept reminding her that smoking is sin so she should stop for all of ramadan, and after ramadan she ddint go back to it and now she doesnt smoke alhamdulelah

Remind that person that smoking or drug addiction is haraam.and most importantly this must be a continuous reminder to show that Allah forbisds us things which are noxious to ourselves.Show the consequences to that person.
But that person needs to have his or her own willpower to get out of it. In the end it all depends on his or her efforts input.

Pray for that brother or sister that he or she realises the harm done to the body
