An Iraqi child… here I stand

A broken heart in a threatened land.

Hold your sword and fight for me

I’m a kid… with no glee.

Crying alone, can you dry my tears?

I ‘m afraid, can you kill these fears?

“Help!” I scream, can anyone hear?

“Help!” I scream, is anyone here?

Protection is what I am looking for,

Stop the strike, protect me from war.

They accuse and accuse but cannot prove

And we can’t stop them though we don’t approve!

Filled with depression, filled with pain,

Filled with sadness…but all in vain.

Filled with anger, but what’s the use?

My feelings can not stop the abuse!

Justice and Peace have got no word,

Humanity is living in a bleeding world.

Dad says things that I can’t understand:

“Inspection, sanctions and controlling our land”,

“Taking our oil” and a “regime change”,

“Absence of International legitimacy and law”

And many other things that are above my age

Fear of war is all what I can comprehend and know.

I just wonder, “What have I done?”

And why do they want to set my sun?

My young heart is filled with fears,

My innocent face is wet by tears,

My tongue is for help screaming.

My mind is of peace dreaming.

I’m waiting for future that’s mysterious and unknown,

In a world that’s headed by one single throne;

One superpower that no one fights

And no one can defend my human rights.

Lost and confused, have nothing but to wait

For anything to be done before it’s too late!

An Iraqi child…here I stand

A broken heart in a threatened land

Hold your sword and fight for me

I’m a kid…with no glee

Crying alone, can you dry my tears?

I’m afraid, can you kill these fears?
