Well, I guess my fam are weird then. The majority of my relatives on my mum's side speak Shuddho, the majority of my dad's family speak Sylheti, though there are some random people that speak Shuddho coz they were educated there.
And mum's side speak Shuddho, coz for a while they lived in Dhaka, but had to move to another city when the Bangladeshi's were being killed in the dead of the night. Also, my nana was a policeman. So they were the first targets.
Apart from Robindro Nat Tagore (However you spell it) and Kazi Nazrul Islam,

Seriously, there are some real good Bangla literature out there. Thing is, I didn't quite appreciate the language as I had to study it. I know GSCE Bangla ain't all that, but my tutor insisted that I read around the topic and got me to write essays on the history of Bangladesh in English, then to translate it to bangla, :muddlehea.

tara mathe pare dim = they lay eggs on the field. Mathe (the 't' is a strong 't') = field; mathai = head.
Meger kole rod hesheche
badol geche tuti
Aaj amader chuti
oh bhai,
Aaj amader chuti...
Second sentence = badol gach
er tuti
Translation: The sun shines on the lap of the clouds
badol gach = oak tree (I think); I don't know what 'tuti' means though

My translation was an error of typing and my thoughts. I knew 'hesheche' meant laughing. But when translating, I wasn't thinking.
Plus when you literally translate it, it does translate to 'the lap of the clouds'. "Kole" = the lap.
Bhor holo dor kholo
khuku moni otho re
Bhor holo dor kholo = It's dawn, open your door. (It's not literally door; here, it's referring to the eyelids)
Khukumoni otho re = Khukumoni wake up
Khukumoni is a common endearment used to address kids. Khuku = little child; Moni = Cornea (of the eye, I think. Or maybe the iris. I'm not too sure. It's like, when they sometimes refer to kids as 'amar chokher moni').

Kole = lap; Khula = to open. Kole is spelt with the first alphabet of the second (long) set of letters whereas Khula is spelt with the second letter. You know... Kó Khó Gó Ghó Omo? Etc.

In shuddho the first part would be 'Shobai as
en naki?'. Second part, "Tumra kothai geso/geyacho?". OR if you're more respectful, you'd use 'apnara' instead of 'tumra'.

Nuwakahali dialect isn't all that different really. In fact, it's quite hard to differentiate between nuakhali dialect and shuddho. Have you ever heard anyone speak puran dhakai language? It's hilarious. It's hard to distinguish anything when people from chittagong speak. IMO, it's harder than shylheti.

I think you got the pronunciations wrong. Even if I asked my parents that, they'll never be able to answer me. Because I believe that the actual saying goes something like, "Oloshotha kono shomoye nishful hoi na"
Oloshotha = Laziness
kono shomoye = (in this context) never
nishful = I'm unsure about this one... But is it 'fruitful' or 'productive'? I remember hearing this word around, but I forgot what it means.
hoi na = doesn't happen
Full translation: Laziness never bears fruit/Laziness is never productive.
... Or something like that.

Lol I'm wondering now if you're that Bengali singer Alif alauddin.
Words like fool and idiots sound funny in the sylheti tongue and they are just said in jest. A bit of humour doesn't go amiss as long as these words are not directed at anyone:)
