View Full Version : Why Daddy, Why...?

:sl:

Sunshine glowing down, warming up the ground
The little girl by his side, looking up with pride
looking up with happiness such loving happiness
Such love in her tender heart- they would never part...
or so the young one thought

skipping and singing, running to keep up
yet nothing he left for her in her little life's cup
she reached for his hand, held on to him tight
yet gentle and lovingly, her little eyes so bright
he remembered how he'd held her and rocked her to sleep in the dark night..

she was chatter and smile
but for just a little while, he knew she'd no longer-
she couldn't any longer- the road wound to an end...

How sad are the ones that we make....our choices
Why do we ignore our fitrah..... its voices

He didn't want to think- he grabbed her so suddenly
and lifted her high.....-at first her lips smiled innocense
falling for his false pretense-
Sudden she felt fear, wanted to be near
her little eyes grew wide......
But he held on to his stubborn pride- and let her go
down into that well- helplessly she fell..

Cries of confusion yet his blinding disillusion
worked him on blind- throwing hard soil that could grind
any tender heart it could find..

Her hot tears that fell
and heart that didn't know how to yell- how to tell- ask him-
to take her close into his arms, next to his heart
she thought they'd never part..
And amid her cries she lifted up her eyes
that were ready for his lies- just take her back..

He just threw more sand- and in those very eyes it did land
as she grabbed hold of his hand....

Why, O daddy why...?

Why, O why, did he ignore her last cry
- did he leave her to die
He didn't know how to cry, nor could he even sigh
the heaviness inside found no way to belie..
He'd stood there, he'd buried her
yet he couldn't bare to pull his hand away
the pain he couldn't brush away..
Because his heart did nothing but betray

He'd torn a part from himself- if only he'd known
she was a gift from God, not just his own
if only he'd known
But now it was too late
As time will never wait

The tears and thoughts- reminder..
couldnt they be kinder- held him as an iron bolt
it was his own fault

He'd buried her cries in the earth
but could he forget her birth?
And his heart could not- would not stop yearning
and hurting.. for that little child
O why had he been so wild?

Tears glistened on the prophet (saw)'s face-
dripped from his blessed beard..
Had touched his tender heart-
the true story he'd just heard

Children are blessings, in our arms they should lay
Why do we do away- when what will we say
On Judgement Day-
When they ask us why
How will we cry...?

(based on the hadith when a man narrated how he'd buried his baby daughter alive to the prophet (saw))

That was a nice poem, reminds me of the ayaah "wa idhal mawuudatu su'ilat bi ayyi dhanbin gutilat?" surat al burruuj
"and when the young girl will be asked, for which sin was she killed?"
and the story of 3umar radhiyaAllahu 3anhu too,

I read that story in a book, that I borrowed from my local library. And loving the poem!!!

I cried so much when I read that story!!! I told My Mother the story and I started to cry again, it touched my heart so much!

Insha'Allaah, may we all learn a lesson that children, indeed, are a blessing and that we all were once a child.
