mashallah i was reading this thread but i stopped at # 7but so far very good mashallah...

There was a question regarding how to write arabic is transliteration see that the Somali speaking brothers and sisters who speak arabic. ( very well might i add) mashallah... are writing it in Somali text i.e. H= X :) ok so let me just show you how its written in arabic....

Since the arabic alphabet has letters that can not be replaced with these English alphabets we substitute them with numbers :) its quite simple and u will get the hang of it very quickly.

The Letters

ح =7
خ =5
ع =3
*غ='3
ص=9
ض='9
ط =6
ظ ='6
ء =2

lets have examples-

words-

candy/sweet = (halwah) replaced with a number =7alawah

good= (khair) replaced with a number =5air

Abdullaah = (Abdullaah) replaced with a number = 3abdullaah

Jealousy = (gheerah) replaced with a number = 3'eerah

Prayer = (Salaat) replaced with a number = 9alaat

misguided ones = (thaleen) replaced with a number =9'aleen

food = (ta'am) replaced with a numbers = 6a3am

obvious = (thahir) replaced with a number = 6'ahir

and as for hamza its a 2 an example i can give for that is my own name Aiesha the (e) would be a 2 ---> 3a2eshah

Note: the 3 is replacing the letter ain ( but the a is still there to show emphasis to the letter and the 2 is hamzah.)

The 7 is a very nice tool to help differentiate between the letters ه & ح

*the (') repersents the dot on top of the letters.

i hope this was helpful if not i am sorry to confuse you.

;D Not quite; I know, it wasn't clear enough to start off, so I'll translate it myself:

a - question fragment "?" like "hal"
antum - you (pl.masc.)
qaari-um - reading (masc.)
maa - what (from maathaa)
katabtu - I wrote

:shade: So now it should be a little bit more easy in translating into a complete sentence . . . :p

Well done Ahemd

try 2 do dis one

Im probably the saddest case here (shy). Arabic is supposedly my first language. But it acts as my second. I've studied fus7a for 12 years or more. But I still have problems in speech (shy) bas inshaAllaah, soon I shall perfect it :)

(side note: This may count as a suggestion: i've seen many forums and veryyy few of them provide the benefit of arabic knowledge.. so when i made my forum -sneaks in some advertising- www.al-muttaqoon.com I made a learn arabic forum. So the members who speak arabic can teach those that dont.

I feel arabic is very important to learn in the Deen and it should be a goal for every muslim.

:D Explanation:

:shade:Preposition: A word or phrase placed typically before a substantive and indicating the relation of that substantive to a verb, an adjective, or another substantive, as English at, by, with, from, and in regard to.

:D Examples: http://www.islamicboard.com/showpost...&postcount=324

:shade: 'An, Min, Ilaa . . .

:D Basically; they are words that cause succeeding words to end with kasrah, so I cannot say: 'ani-l-kitaaba; rather I can say: 'ani-l-kitaabi.

:D Laa Tahzani! Many mis-understand this basic Hadith due to the thakara. It's nothing to worry about; I just thought of trying it out here. I've tried it on some people quite well educated in Ahadith, quite a few actually got it wrong;D - you would expect them to do better.

:shade: The narration isn't authentic; firstly, but it is in Sahah Sitta (Bukhari). So he drank (water) and washed his face and hands, (then he sat down) and remembered his head and feet.

means to conceal; to cover; to not make aware......

ok let me try...

A servant will NEVER/NOT cover another servant (the sins) until he conceals it on the day of Qiyamah

:sl:

I lost you there akhi .

But that arabic "Bi sura-'a yaa ukhti!" I usually hear in the Haram when the religious Haram police tell the ladies to move to the back :) .
:sl:

:zip: Its simply means hurry up; if people choose to mis-use it; that's another case, but hear it does not mean what you wrote . . .

But the tun part at the end of the last word is no longer used in daily arabic .

Not sure sis it depends what the individual wants to learn I guess , the Fusha doest help too much in the arab word as no one uses it except for writing and reading off course .

:D Laa; li-annahu liman yadidoona at-tarjamahu mushkilla wa hum yakallimoonal-'arabiyyah :p I'd be supprised if many can understand what I just wrote, because it's very formal; similarly; ahadith; which we are used to, through experience and practice; you will not find many people even amongst arabs that understand, that's why practice is very important. I think those who know even a little bit of Arabic should practice slightly on translating ahadith; no-ones translation is absolutely perfect; it can always be checked and improved, but the Muslim ummah lacks knowledge; and we need to try to bring that back through practice. Muslims can never unite under ignorance; rather they would divide further; as you'll find the Quran say's in the first verse of Surah al-Anbiyah 21. I used that in my signature for the same reason. I don't think I have to remind people regarding obvious things regarding which way this thread is heading. :) We need unity and we'll continue to work towards it Insha-Allah . . . :p In the mean-time we need to master the basics . . . :applaud: Very good explanation . . . Sub-haan-Allah . . .

:D Also Tahzan comes from the root-word: "hazana"; meaning to be worried, literally means: he was worried. In Arabic you'll come across roots and grammar tables quite a lot, but don't let them confuse you. As Arabic isn't as hard as it may seem . . . :p
