jazakAllah khair for that recording

also this last week the muadhin of masjid al nabawi passed away inna lillahi wa inna ilayhee rajioun.

Sheikh Abdul Aziz Bukhary, the mu'adhen of Al Masjid Al Nabawi, died, after suffering from illness during the last 2 years.
He kept making the call of prayer in the Masjid of prophet Muhammad for the last 59 years.
He was burried in baqee, Madina.
He comes from a family that dedicated their lives to serve in the masjid masha'Allah.
He started his love of calling for prayer since he was 8. At 12 he became a mo'adhen in the haram alnabawy as a 'moladhem' (resident mo'adhen). Moladhems are those who perform adhan as a duty without a salary. He used to call for prayers in the days were no speakers were yet introduced. There were no air conditioning or other electric noisy appliances too, so his beautiful strong voice subhan Allah reached so far away in the neighborhoods of Al Madinah Al munawara.

Can you actually imitate the imams in reciting and take that as your own way of reciting or do you have to have your own unique way of reciting?
I can recite like Shaikh Talib (May Allah Protect him) with his sytle but my voice doesn't match up with him?

Praise be to Allaah.

Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning):
“It is He Who made the sun a shining thing and the moon as a light and measured out for it stages that you might know the number of years and the reckoning. Allaah did not create this but in truth. He explains the Ayaat in detail for people who have knowledge.” [Yoonus 10:5]

“And from among His Signs are the night and the day, and the sun and the moon. Prostrate yourselves not to the sun” nor to the moon, but prostrate yourselves to Allaah Who created them, if you (really) worship Him” (Fussilat 41:37)

Salaat al-Kusoof is Sunnah mu’akkadah (a confirmed Sunnah) according to the consensus of the scholars. The daleel (evidence) for this is the Sunnah reported from the Messenger of Allaah SAWS (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him)
Eclipses are signs from Allaah by means of which Allaah makes His slaves afraid. Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning): “And We sent not the signs except to warn, and to make them afraid (of destruction)” [al-Israa’ 17:39]

When the sun was eclipsed at the time of the Messenger of Allaah SAWS (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him), he went out rushing nervously to the mosque, dragging his cloak behind him, and led the people in prayer. He told them that the eclipse was one of the signs of Allaah, with which Allaah makes His slaves afraid, and that it may be the cause of punishment coming upon the people. He commanded them to do that which could prevent the punishment, so he commanded them to pray when an eclipse happens, and to make du’aa’, seek His forgiveness, give charity, free slaves and do other righteous deeds so that the punishment would go away and not befall the people. So the eclipse is a reminder to people, making them afraid so that they will turn back to Allaah and pay attention to Him.

During the Jaahiliyyah, people used to believe that eclipses happened to mark the birth or death of a great person, but the Messenger of Allaah SAWS (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) declared this belief to be false and explained the divine wisdom behind the occurrence of eclipses:

Imaam al-Bukhaari and Muslim narrated that Ibn Mas’ood al-Ansaari said: “the sun was eclipsed the day Ibraaheem the son of the Messenger of Allaah SAWS (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) died, and the people said, ‘The sun is eclipsed because of the death of Ibraaheem.’ The Messenger of Allaah SAWS (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: ‘The sun and the moon are two signs from Allaah, and they do not become eclipsed for the death or the birth of anyone. If you see that, hasten to remember Allaah and to pray.’”

According to another hadeeth in al-Saheehayn: “Call on Allaah and pray until [the eclipse] is over.”

It is reported in Saheeh al-Bukhaari that Abu Moosa said: “These signs that Allaah sends are not for the death or life of anyone, but Allaah makes His slaves afraid through them, so if you see anything of that [eclipses], then hasten to remember Allaah and call on Him and seek His forgiveness.”

Allaah causes eclipses to happen to these two mighty signs, the sun and the moon, to teach His slaves and show them that these things are created and are subject to imperfections and changes just like any other created entities. Thus He shows them His perfect ability and that He alone is deserving of worship, as Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning): “And from among His Signs are the night and the day, and the sun and the moon. Prostrate yourselves not to the sun” nor to the moon, but prostrate yourselves to Allaah Who created them, if you (really) worship Him” (Fussilat 41:37)

The time for Salaat al-Kusoof lasts from the beginning of the eclipse until it is over, because the Prophet SAWS (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “When you see that, then pray.” (Agreed upon). According to another hadeeth, “If you see anything of that, then pray until it is over.” (Reported by Muslim).

Salaat al-Kusoof should not be done once the eclipse is over, because the time has gone. If an eclipse ends before one knows about it, one does not have to pray, because the reason for this prayer is no longer there.

The way in which Salaat al-Kusoof is done is to pray two Rak’ahs in which Qur’aan is recited aloud, according to the correct one out of the two scholarly opinions. In the first Rak’ah, one should recite al-Faatihah and a long soorah such as Soorat al-Baqarah or the equivalent, then do a long rukoo’, then raise one's head and say, “Sami’a Allaahu liman hamidah, Rabbanaa wa laka’l-hamd (Allaah listens to the one who praises Him; our Lord to You be praise)” after standing upright, as in other prayers. Then one should then recite al-Faatihah and another long soorah, shorter than in the first recitation, equivalent in length to Soorat Aal ‘Imraan. Then one should do another long rukoo’ shorter than the first, and when raising one's head, say, “Sami’a Allaahu liman hamidah, Rabbanaa wa laka’l-hamd hamdan katheeran tayyiban mubaarakan fih, mal’ al-samawaati wa mal’ al-ard wa mal’ ma shi’ta min shay’in ba’d (Allaah listens to the one who praises Him; our Lord to You be praise, much good and blessed praise, filling heaven and earth and whatever You will besides that).” Then he should do two lengthy sujoods, without making the sitting between them too long. Then one should pray the second rak’ah like the first, with two long rukoo’s and two long sujoods, as he did in the first rak’ah. Then he should recite the Tashahhud and say the salaam.

This is the description of Salaat al-Kusoof as prayed by the Messenger of Allaah SAWS (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him), as was reported with a number of isnaads. Some of these reports are in al-Saheehayn, including the hadeeth narrated by ‘Aa’ishah (may Allaah be pleased with her): “The sun was eclipsed at the time of the Messenger of Allaah SAWS (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him), and the Messenger of Allaah SAWS (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) went out, stood up and said Takbeer (‘Allaahu akbar’), and the people formed rows behind him. The Messenger of Allaah SAWS (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) recited a lengthy recitation and did a lengthy rukoo’, then he raised his head and said, ‘Sami’a Allaahu liman hamidah, Rabbanaa wa laka’l-hamd.’ Then he stood upright and recited another lengthy recitation, shorter than the first. Then he said ‘Allaahu akbar’ and did another lengthy rukoo’, shorter than the first. Then he said, ‘Sami’a Allaahu liman hamidah, Rabbanaa wa laka’l-hamd.’ Then he did sujood. Then in the second rak’ah he did likewise, until he had completed four rukoo’s and four sujoods, and the eclipse was over before he had finished.” (Agreed upon).

It is sunnah to pray Salaat al-Kusoof in jamaa’ah (congregation), because this is what the Prophet SAWS (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) did, but it is permissible to pray it individually, as with all other naafil prayers. However, praying it in congregation is better.

It is sunnah for the imaam to address the people after the prayer, and to warn them against negligence and being led astray, and to tell them to make lots of du’aa’ and ask for forgiveness. In al-Saheeh it is narrated from ‘Aa’ishah (may Allaah be pleased with her) that the Prophet SAWS (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) finished his prayer then addressed the people and started by praising Allaah then he said, “The sun and the moon are two of the signs of Allaah, and they do not become eclipsed for the death or the birth of anyone. If you see that, then call on Allaah, perform salaah, give charity…”

If the prayer ends before the eclipse does, then remember Allaah (dhikr) and call on Him (du’aa’) until the eclipse ends. The prayer should not be repeated. If the eclipse ends before the prayer, then the prayer should be completed quickly, but it should not be stopped or cut off abruptly, because Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning): “and render not vain your deeds” [Muhammad 47:33]. The prayer should be at the time of the eclipse, because the Prophet SAWS (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “… until it (the eclipse) is over…” and he also said, “… until what you are going through is over …”

Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyah said: “Sometimes eclipses last for a long time, and sometimes for a short time, depending on how much of the sun or moon is eclipsed. The entire sun or moon may be eclipsed, or only half of it, or one-third. If it is a total eclipse, then the prayer should last long enough for all of al-Baqarah or something of similar length to be recited in the first rak’ah, and in the next rak’ah a shorter recitation is made. There are saheeh ahaadeeth narrated from the Prophet SAWS (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him), as we have mentioned, and it is prescribed to shorten the prayer if the reason for it [i.e., the eclipse] is no longer there. So if it is known that the eclipse will not last for long, or if it started to get less, one should still pray, but the prayer should be shortened. This is the opinion of the majority of scholars, because this prayer is prescribed for a specific reason, and if the reason is no longer there and the eclipse is over, one should not pray.”

That is shaykh Abdul-Muhsin ibn Muhammad al-Qaasim. He is the Imam/Khateeb of the Prophet's Mosque and a PhD student at the Islamic University, Madinah. He has a smallish beard at the moment, one of those goatee affairs.

trust me its in makkah, infact from the site its itself...

Built in 1419, Masjid Ibn Baaz (may Allaah have Mercy on Imaam Ibn Baaz) lies on the western edge of the 'Azeeziyyah District. It looks very high-tech from the outside, however it is very old-fashioned as far as the activities that go on inside. Throughout the year, many scholars who stop through Makkah give lessons in Masjid Ibn Baaz. Shaykh Rabee' Al-Madkhalee used to give regular lessons here, and Shaykh 'Abdul-'Azeez Aalish-Shaykh gives lessons here when he is in Makkah.

SOME MORE QUESTIONS WITH SHEIKH SAUD AL SHURAIM

RIYADH, 6 April 2007 — US House of Representatives Speaker Nancy Pelosi, a California Democrat, paid a visit to the Shoura Council yesterday where leaders of the two political bodies pledged to exchange information and conduct more bilateral visits.

Shoura members also broached the subject of the difficulties in Saudis obtaining visas to visit or study in the United States, a process that in the best situation usually takes four or five months.

The tour of Saudi Arabia’s appointed legislative advisory council by the third-highest ranking elected US official took place after a meeting with Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah. Pelosi said that in her meeting with the king, which followed her controversial visit to Syria, the two discussed primarily the situation in Iraq and the Israeli-Palestinian issue.

Pelosi came to the Kingdom with a delegation that included Rep. Tom Lantos (D-CA), head of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, and Rep. Keith Ellison (D-MN), the first Muslim elected to the US Congress. Saleh Bin-Humaid, the chairman of the Shoura Council, briefed Pelosi and her delegation on the functioning of the 150-member advisory body.

While meeting with Shoura officials, Pelosi was informed about the increasing difficulty of Saudi nationals in obtaining visas to travel to the United States after 9/11.

Speaking to The Associated Press, Shoura Council member Ihsan Buhulaiga expressed hope that Pelosi would take into consideration the concerns of Saudi students and visitors to America.

“We told her there should be some movement on the visa issue because while we understand the security needs of the US, the situation is unacceptable,” he said.

Pelosi, the first woman House speaker, was invited to sit on the Shoura chairman’s chair. “It’s a nice view from here,” she was quoted as saying. “This chair is very comfortable,” she added with a smile.

When asked to reflect on the fact that the Shoura Council has no women members, Pelosi, a staunch feminist, seemed to steer away from provocative comments. “I am very pleased that after 200-plus years in the US, we finally have a speaker (who is a woman),” she replied. “It took us a long time.”

Pelosi said she did bring up the issue of women’s rights during her trip, without elaborating.

Pelosi’s visit to the Kingdom after her talks with Syrian President Bashar Assad is an indication, according to Shoura member Osama Al-Kurdi, of the leadership role the US Congress sees Saudi Arabia playing in the push to resolve the region’s myriad issues, most notably in restarting the Palestinian-Israeli peace process.

Al-Kurdi said Pelosi told Shoura members that she recognizes this role and considered the Saudi peace initiative — first floated by King Abdullah when he was crown prince in 2002 — a positive step. He added that the Kingdom is able to leverage its strength in relations with the US for the cause of peace and stability in the region.

“She recognizes the important role King Abdullah plays in the Middle East and the Muslim world,” said Al-Kurdi. “She also appreciated the Arab peace initiative and hoped that the international community will take it forward.”

Saudi Arabia led the drive to re-launch the peace initiative amid growing concern in the Kingdom about sectarian violence in Iraq.

Analysts have said the king’s description of the “occupation of Iraq” reflected his belief that the US administration’s strategy in Iraq was doomed and his frustration over President George Bush’s rejection of a Saudi-brokered power-sharing deal between US-backed Palestinian moderates and Hamas.

On Wednesday, King Abdullah and Pelosi discussed “the whole range of developments on the regional and international scenes, chiefly those pertaining to the Palestinian issue and the situation in Iraq,” the official Saudi Press Agency said.

Spokesperson for the US delegation Nadeam Elshami said Pelosi’s talks with the king covered “issues in conjunction with the Arab summit and peace and stability in the Middle East,” including Iraq as well as the conflicts in Darfur and Somalia.

Pelosi also had a meeting with Interior Minister Prince Naif. The contents of their talks were not disclosed.

I just came back from the masjid and the Imam was saying that someone asked Sheikh Shuraim, regarding the reason for why he sometimes cries when reciting Surah Fatihah, particularly in the 3rd verse, "Maliki yawm mid deen".

He mentioned that Sheikh Shuraim replied saying that Allah (SWT) is the one who, no matter how many good deeds you have, can still put you into the fire of Jahannam, and no-one can question his (SWT) decision and authority for doing so.

Masha'ALLAH we can see how much taqwa which the Sheikh has.

JazakAllah for the correct translation brother....

And masha'Allah that was great advice, as the one who does an action before the imam, he will be raised as a donkey on the day of judgement. I'm not too sure about source, maybe somebody can back me up or else I'll edit it out.

Jazakallah bro Webcoran

^Heres the Hadith bro^
No one should raise their head before the imam nor do any of the actions of the prayer until he has done them.

[None of those following the Imam precedes him in ruku', prostration or anything else. If he gets ahead of him, he returns to him thinking to catch him before rising. Is returning sunna or obligatory? Al-Mawwaq confined himself to the second and even if he fails to return, his prayer is valid since he took his oblgiation with the Imam before he rose. Otherwise, it is obligatory for him to return. If he omits it intentionally or by ignorance, then his prayer is invalid, but not by oversight. It is in the position of the one who is crowded and it is an analogy with the lowering.

Not going down before the Imam is based on what is in the Sahih collections that the Prophet said, "Does not the one who raises his head before the Imam fear that Allah will tranform his face into that of a donkey or make his form the form of a donkey?" In the variant of Muslim is that he said, "O people! I am your Imam so do not precede me in bowing, prostration, standing or leaving.

You only do something after he has begun to do it. It is better to do it after he has begun it and to catch him in it. This is outside of the standing up after two rak'ats. In the rak'at, he must not do it until the Imam is already standing. The basis for that is that al-Bara' said, "When the Messenger of Allah said, 'Allah hears whoever praises Him,' none of them moved his back, i.e. stood up until the Messenger of Allah had gone into prostration. Then we went into prostration after him," i.e they delayed beginning their action from when he began it and they begin their action before he finished his prostration. The commentator of the hadith said, "It is forbidden to precede the Imam and to do it at the same time as him, and it is disliked to delay until he moves on to another pillar of the prayer. It is also said that accompanying him is disliked.]
btw Sheikh Budair read Surah Haqqah in todays Fajr, Mashallah another beautiful recitation

Yeah JazakAllah khair Wizra_Ukhra, Brother Ibn-Muhammad posted the link yesterday, masha'Allah it is well organised. The quality is very high masha'Allah.

Be sure to check out 3 of the most beautiful recitations from 1427 Makkah taraweeh:

Surat Al-Kahf (Sheikh Budair and Sheikh Shuraim (hafizahuma Allah)

Surah Maryam (complete by Sheikh Shuraim(HA) :coolious:which was extremely wonderful:cry:)

Surat Ya-Seen (sheikh Budair and sheikh Juhany (hafizahuma Allah)... This one is also among the most beautiful recitations I've ever heard, especially the part where Sheikh Juhany (HA) starts reading )

on the makkah 1427 set i liked:
015 - Surah Al-Hijr - Shuraim recites all of it
017 - Surah Al-Isra' - most of it is by Juhany, budair does the end part
050 - Surah Qaf - budair recites all of it

i think the madinah set is better

012 - Surah Yusuf - Al-Qasim and Maahir
042 - Surah Ash-Shura - Sh. Maahir recites all of it
057 - Surah Al-Hadid - Hussain Aal Ash-Sheikh

That's an interesting questions because usulaly the imams only read behind the leading Imam during Ramadhan and sometimes Jumua, in Makkah it's the same and only occasionly other Imams lead behind the leading Imam
Inshallah someone with more knowledge than me will answer :)
