Here are some food famous in my hometown, Georgetown.
CHAR KOAY TEOW
Chinese rice noodle called "Koay Teow" fried with shrimps and cockles. Very famous in Penang.
LAKSA PENANG
Fusion of Malay and Chinese meal, rice noodle called "laksa" eaten with sweet and sour fish soup.
KOAY TEOW SOUP
Chinese meal. "Koay Teow" eaten with chicken soup. I'm addicted to Koay Teow Soup..... :p
ROTI CANAI
South Indian meal. THE OFFICIAL BREAKFAST of Penang. Loved by Malays, Chinese and Indians. It's so ESSENTIAL that if you increase just 10 cent of the price.... the whole Penang community will be Panic!!!! :uuh:. It's kinda pancake eaten with curry...
NASI LEMAK
Authentic Malay meal. THE OFFICIAL BREAKFAST of MALAYSIA. Everyone loves this meal. The hotter the chilli paste... the BETTER...
It's rice cooked in coconut milk... to be eaten with HOT 'sambal' (cooked chilli paste), half boiled egg and fried anchovies and peanuts.... and cucumber too...

now let me teach...all of you on how to eat typical malay food.
we usually eat variety of dishes with rice...we called it 'nasi campur (you may have to pronounce it nasee champoor...). :D :D :D
yesterday i cook 3 dishes and one maybe you called it a dessert (but for me a dessert has to be sweet...however this one is not).
1. fish head curry...(oh no...most of show this kind of reaction --->:uuh: ...actually fish head curry can be kind of expensive :D)
Upload Pictures with PicTiger
2. chicken cooked in red (hehe...;P i don't really know how to translate...but is suppose to be chicken in chilli sauce)
3. vegetables cooked with shrimp and crab stick.
now...put everything on your plate beside your rice like this...
and have a soy milk drink...
and also 'cucur udang'...i'm not sure what you called it...maybe shrimp critters :? and dip it into peanut sauce.

types of noodles in malaysia
Fried Vermicelli
char kway teow
soft fluffy noodles shaped like fettuccine but made of rice and translucent white in colour
yellow noodle
Basically, this is the usual round yellow noodle that looks like spaghetti (fatter though) and is made from wheat flour. It has a smooth texture and is best used in Hokkien Fried Mee
for example fried noodle
laksa
example laksa asam
Assam laksa is a sour fish-based soup. Asam is the Malay word for sour, but it is often used as an abbreviation for asam jawa or tamarind, which is commonly used to give the stock its sour flavor. It is also common to use "asam keping" also known as "asam gelugor", dried slices of tamarind fruit, for added sourness. Modern Malay spelling is asam, though the spelling assam is still frequently used.
The main ingredients for assam laksa include shredded fish, normally kembung fish or mackerel, and finely sliced vegetables including cucumber, onions, red chillis, pineapple, lettuce, common mint, "daun kesom" (Vietnamese mint or laksa mint) and pink bunga kantan (ginger buds). Assam laksa is normally served with either thick rice noodles or thin rice noodles (vermicelli). And topped off with "petis udang" or "hae ko", a thick sweet prawn paste.

Ohh i always wanted to know how are made the roses from cakes
i can make them but not sooooo good yet. takes patience to make them. the icing has to be the right consistency otherwise the petals will droop down. you need to use a rose nail and a flat tube to make them.
me, mum and bluey made these for eid
and shake and bake chicken i made a while ago when i liked cooking

first boiled the chestnut, after that mashed it, like the potatoes, same technique, meanwhile made a syrup (water and sugar), in which later she added the chestnut. I made the whipped cream and was ready. Its easy to make and delicious:playing:

hi tania,
the recipie has plain four.
I dont think so wheat flour will do, as its the main ingredient.
And that Red/Orange is food colour added to it.

Alhambra on Jalan Setiapuspa in Medan Damansara
Moroccan food - I like their couscous with 7 vegetables and chicken tagine. Mains are around RM30-ish to RM40-ish. This is in the suburbs and may be a bit difficult to get to unless you drive there or take a cab.
hehe...i found this...but i've never been there

They are not waffles. We are calling here "with salt" - sărăţele.
I don't know the taste of the other two cakes. The elephants look cute, well the entire jungle look well but i wonder if the cake has a good taste. :-[ I found on the net other interesting cakes too
