Well, this thought came into my mind.
Think of prayer as an anti virus program, it needs to be up-to-date and effective....And obviously, in place to protect.
Inconsitency in prayer would mean your AV is not up-to-date, which would allow 'sins' to attack your iman, unless updated immediately (qadhaa)
In order for it to be effective, it must be prayed well, ot it will be incomprehnsive and will not filter out as many sins as you would expect it to.
And no Salaah at all?

Your Iman is vulnerable to all sorts of viruses that will affect your iman, such as lying, backbiting and many harmful deeds. Which may render one's imam weak, or even gone.
