Sorry...but how does this word relates in this ayah from sura maaida

and this from sura Fath

Istidraaj from "darajah" meaning "grade/level", used in quran in this form....

"sa nas tad riju hum min 7aithu laa ya3lamoon" (sura Qalam)

"soon we'll punish them gradually from the direction they percieve not"

Meaning that they've been given more time to reach deeper into the sins/wrongdoing, and then they're caught suddenly

a hadith roughly means "when you see someone doing wrong things without fear, and inspite of this he has worldly blessings on him from all over the place, then this is "istidraaj" i.e he's been given more time to delve deeper into the sins.

I hope it'd explain quite much inshAllah. Correct me if i make a mistake, as my primary vocabulary comes from only quran and bits of hadiths.

So when ye have accomplished your holy rites, celebrate the praises of God, as ye used to celebrate the praises of your fathers,- yea, with far more Heart and soul. There are men who say: "Our Lord! Give us (Thy bounties) in this world!" but they will have no portion in the Hereafter.
