Hi every one ..
I need help from you all .. I need some ideas to help me with my project in the university.
the project is:
model a tree for weal & evil that using half for weal and another for evil.
I think about free and restraint
... what do you think about?? ..
 
How are you going to portray 'freedom' & 'restraint' in a tree?

ermm.. I'm almost embarrassed to give my idea.. lol

how about one half of a tree in full bloom, bearing fruit etc.. and the other half bare and weather-beaten with a noose hanging off one of the branches :embarrass

sorry I dunno how that came into my head... :-\

I think about a plant that have one half with free growing leaves and the other half with lean leaves that cage in a wooden prison ..

does it have to be a tree?

NO, it's not have to be exactly a tree .. but some thing similar to it in shape.
for example : two hands one carry water and the other carry fire.

ur wc sis.. that's a good idea too.. you can have dried stems on one side shaped into a birdcage resembling restraint.

ok got u now.. so basically it doesn't have to be freedom and restraint.. rather good and bad u want to depict..

other ideas.. hmmm

1. a rose with a bee hovering above it.. but a piece of torn cloth caught on the thorns...

2. life giving rain falling on new crops/shoots of young plant.. with lightening striking something & destroying it..

3. a double edged knife.. stick an apple on one side and blood on the other (not real blood though) lol

oh well I tried :-\
 
Sounds to me that the project is to be similar to the Chinese "yin-Yang" concept. Opposite charecteristics forming the whole. Just as it takes both a white fish and a black fish to form the "Yin-Yang" symbol.

Personally I would toy with the idea of a rose. The thorns and the flowers a circular or square design with half the design formed from the flowers and half designed from the thorns. For example in a square or cube the rose blossoms forming the corners and the thorn branches forming the sides.

If at all possible a geometric design in which there is equal quantity of 2 opposite repetitive designs. Most simple being a checkerboard in which neither color squares are the fore ground nor the background but each is both and one color does not exist without the other. A geometric pattern would be more Islamic.

I was pretending I knew what it meant, I didn't want to look stupid.


I took it as a typo error for real and did not want to point it out.
 
Actually weal is a legitimate word and the meaning is suitable for here. It is a word seldom used tho.

weal 1 Pronunciation (wl)
n.
1. Prosperity; happiness: in weal and woe.
2. The welfare of the community; the general good: the public weal.

It makes sense in context of the title
