(1) Everyone who is taken by death asks for more time, while everyone who
still has time makes excuses for procrastination. [Ali radi Allah anhu]
(2) “Know that you have three friends. The first of them is your
wealth,which you shall lose at the time of death. The second of them is
yourfamily, who shall leave you once you are in your grave. The third ofthem
are your actions, which shall never depart from you. So befriendthat which
will accompany you in your grave, and be intimate with it.The intelligent
one is he who knows Allah, His commands and Hisprohibitions.” [Ibn ‘Ata’
Allah (Taj al-’arus al-hawi li tahdhib al-nufus, 32).]
(3) "When you lose, don’t lose the lesson"
(4) Imam al-Shafi’ in his final sickness said: When my heart was hardened
and my courses constrained I made my hope a stairway to Your forgiveness My
sin burdened me heavily, but when I measured it by Your forgiveness Lord,
Your forgiveness was the greater.
(5) "Sincerity means that one does not seek recompense to what one has
done." [Abu Bakr radi Allah anhu]
