Many of today's Muslim Americans are hard-working adults trying to get ahead. They are well educated and strive for success in the job market. They plan for their future with retirement plans and investments. Many know what their 'next move' will be professionally and most are always on the lookout for a better opportunity. For the most part, they have really got it planned out. If you ask any one of these young Muslims where they see themselves 10 years from now professionally, they will probably paint you a very specific picture of the office they plan to have, the salary they plan to earn, even the job title they plan to hold.
But ask them what they plan for their personal lives. When will they marry, what do they have planned for their children? Children?? I never really thought that far ahead," many will answer. It is true. Most aspiring young professionals don't really take too much time to plan their families. Most eventually marry, and many ultimately have children of their own, but it is usually just a small part of the big picture. The value of the family unit has diminished; young adults would rather plant the seeds for future professional success. The new trend is not to nurture the Family but rather cultivate Career, Travel, Education...
