DEATH IS A COMFORT

Hadrat Abu Qatadah R.A narrates that once a funeral passed by the Holy Prophet :arabic5: who asked if it was 'Mustarih'(1) or 'Mustrahminho'. The companions asked what he meant by those words. The prophet :arabic5: said that through death, a believer passes on to the Mercy of Allah and is relieved of the worries and troubles of the world. While a transgressor(2) evil doer relieves men, animals and other objects of the world from the worries and troubles through death.
(Bukhari, Muslim)

1. 'Mustarih' means one receiving comfort and 'Mustrahminho' means one by whom others are comforted.

2. That is due to the bad deeds of the trangsgressor, rain is stopped whereby grain and vegetation do not grow and all suffer trouble. The death of such a person reomoves the trouble of all others as rain begins to fall and vegetation to grow

MAY OUR LIVING AND ACTION BE A SOURCE OF GOODNESS, BENEFIT AND COMFORT FOR OTHER PEOPLE.

THROUGH OUR AMAL THE BLESSING FROM THE SKY AND EARTH IS OPENED AND IT BENEFITS THE ENTIRE CREATION.

OUR PROPHET IS SENT AS A MERCY FOR THE ENTIRE WORLD. WE WHO ARE HIS UMAT ARE ALSO SENT FOR THE SAME PURPOSE.

Hadrat Ibn. Mas'ud R.A. has said that for the believer there is comfot in meeting Allah.

Hadrat Safian R.A. used to say that death may be regarded as comfort for the pious (ibn. Abidduniya).

Hadrat Anas R.A. reports that the Messenger of Allah :arabic5: said the death of a man is like the birth of a child from (the dark and narrow) womb of a mother to the peace and comfort of the world.

When a baby is born everybody rejoices and is delighted except the baby. He is afraid to leave the womb of his mother. He feels that the womb of the mother is the place of comfot. He feels satisfied in that small world surrounded by three layers of darkness. He is not able to perceive the vastness, the comfort, the beauty, the joy and pleasures of this world.

On the other hand when a believer dies everybody grieves and mourns but he will be most happy. His heart is filled with joy, peace and pleasure for he can see a far better comfort awaiting him and he is relieved of this worldy worries. After going there one does not wish to return.

The Messenger of Allah :arabic5: said Man loves this life while death is better for him.
