3.30pm For those of you still out there, if this match doesn't resume today, then we are all back tomorrow when it will continue from where we are now. So no let-off for Zimbabwe. If it carries on raining for the next 26 hours then it's a point each. Not technically a pointless exercise ...

forgive me if im wrong...but ur right on if b'desh wins, they go through with Sri...
BUT..if they loose ...its a tie between indian, bermuda & b'desh. thats what the score boards say.....:?
sri...goes thru mo mata what...but i think when the tie happens...the scores will have to be looked at.
so far, India & B'desh have won one each. now somehow if Bermuda win B'desh...then they also have one win.....
BTW...when is Bermuda and B'desh match?

NRR stands for "Net Run Rate"
As explained in clause 11.6 of the 1999 World Cup playing conditions, "A team's net run rate is calculated by deducting from the average runs per over scored by that team, the average runs per over scored against that team".

Assalamoalaikum Everyone,
This has been a world cup of upsets right from the first round.
I don't like one thing though, Why should g8 teams be out of world cup just becoz of one bad day?? I know it happens in games u win n u loose but..this is world cup. One mistake shouldn't lead u out.
I'd prefer all teams have matches with all the teams in the world cup. The teams winning the most matches should go through the next round. It's so bizzare to think that India n Pakistan lost to two minor teams and r out of the world cup.
We all would have been gladder if they lost to Australia, South Africa, New Zealand, atleast there'd a game on. Here the game never even started and has already ended.
I am against grouping teams up..any1 here in favour of it,, convince me why it is prefered.
Don't know who'd win, but I definetely don't want Australia to win.

u know in 92 semifinal south africa vs england
south africa need just 22 runs on 7 balls Brian McMillan was on strike
and rain started and the target was reduced to 22 runs on 1 ball
what u call this
What happened to them in 99 WC semifinal was something else
grouping of teams is good and i am in favour of it
Why, simple less matches are played in this manner
and remember this is not some kind of club or league tournament
where several team will play without grouping
yes group numbers can be reduced

anyway...yeah i also agree that i dnt want the usual to win. ill be glad if one of the 'back-line' win it this time. it'll be such joy for their country!
its a shame, india & pakistan are not in this super 8! i really think they deserve to be! what happend this yr to them? *confused* it would have been nice if the neibouring countris : lanka, pak, bdesh &ind wer together in the final.........

so basically...does every country play against all other 7 countries? or six countries? cos i cnt seem to understand it from the scedule chart.
also in the super 8, as far as i can see...bang have only played 1 game..againts AUS and AUS won. but why does the chart show they've played 2 and lost?
does anyone have a explanation here? cos everyone ive asked is thinking the same, and confusing me more......
thanks in advance...

From each group... 2 teams have qualified for super 8...
Incase of group B its Srilanka and Bangladesh..
Since these two teams have already played against each other in group stage....They need not compete each other once again in Super 8 stage....
We include that particular group match as one of the match in the Super 8...Thus Incase of bangladesh their result against srilanka is also considered....
so currently in super 8s
Bangladesh have PLAYED 2 WON 0 LOST 2
This is the case for all other teams qualified for Super 8
------>>
So After the group matches... in the Super 8s....
Each team plays against all other 6 teams.. ie except their group mate..since they have already played against the group mate in the group stage..

bangladesh is still young to all this....whereas all the other countries like NZ & AUS and ENG is full of experienced players...and the most important thing is majority of B'desh players are 22 and under...all they other countries- majority
players are ove 27 ! and have many years of experience in playing in super 8 and above!
so give bangladesh a break! :raging: (>>>>dnt worry not too much...lol)

Bangladesh beat South Africa yesterday.
World Cup Super 8, Guyana: Bangladesh 251-8 v South Africa 184
By Jonathan Stevenson
Bangladesh celebrate beating the world number one ODI team
Bangladesh caused a sensational World Cup upset by beating South Africa in an extraordinary Super 8 match in Guyana.
The Tigers amassed a brilliant 251-8, their highest ever World Cup score, with Mohammad Ashraful hitting a truly magnificent 87 from 83 balls.
In reply, South Africa were shot out for 184, with Syed Rasel, Saqibal Hasan and Abdur Razzak among the wickets.
The result improves England's hopes of qualifying for the last four ahead of their game against Australia on Sunday.
South Africa won the toss, but erred in electing to bowl first.
The wicket got slower and slower, playing into the hands of Bangladesh's three spinners, and South Africa struggled to get anywhere near the five runs an over they required.
Bangladesh ended up with an excellent score, especially as they too were wobbling at one stage.
A solid start was undone by the recalled Andre Nel, who took three wickets in a fiery first spell.
Test Match Special blog
Bangladesh have ended years of being viewed as also-rans
BBC Sport's Martin Gough
Blog from the boundary
Then Jacques Kallis had Saqibal Hasan caught in the gully by Graeme Smith, and Bangladesh were in tatters at 82-4.
But when Ashraful and Aftab Ahmed came together, the duo put on 76 intelligent runs and ramped up the rate in the process.
Aftab was in disbelief when, moments after he had hit two monstrous sixes off Justin Kemp, he holed out in the deep off Makhaya Ntini.
But Ashraful continued on his merry way and played his favourite standing sweep over short fine leg, a shot which earned him several crucial boundaries.
There were also some cleanly struck, beautifully timed lofted drives that were so reminiscent of his century against Australia in another memorable win for Bangladesh in Cardiff in 2005.
Mashrafe Mortaza joined Ashraful for the final onslaught, himself smashing 25 off 16 balls as the Tigers accelerated in a frenzied last seven overs.
Ashraful played a masterful innings for Bangladesh in Guyana
Ashraful was eventually caught in the deep by Charl Langeveldt off Nel to hand the bowler his first ever five-wicket haul (5-45) in ODIs.
But early on in the South Africa reply, Nel's efforts did not quite seem enough as the Tigers produced a world-class display in the field.
Their bowling was tight and clever and their fielding was electric - with wicket-keeper Mushfiqur Rahim providing a constant running commentary of events.
If they were looking at Mortaza to provide a spark, they got it from his opening partner Rasel.
Changing his pace and bowling occasional off-cutters, he accounted for Smith (12) and Kallis (32), who played an untypically quick-fire innings before clumsily holing out to mid-on.
It did not get much better for AB de Villiers (15), the opener remarkably missing a straight one from Razzak and seeing his middle stump gently knocked back.
With the scoring rate slowing down almost to a standstill, the last thing South Africa needed was to lose their quickest runner between the wickets.
So when Ashwell Prince ran himself out, they knew they were in trouble.
Trouble which was confirmed when Saqibal took two wickets in successive balls straight after being hit for a massive six by Mark Boucher.
Boucher (12) ludicrously lifted Saqibal to Rasel at long-off and the very next ball Saqibal took a brilliant diving catch to get rid of Justin Kemp (7).
As the required rate escalated, South Africa gave up the ghost depressingly early, with neither Herschelle Gibbs (56) nor Charl Langeveldt (9 from 32 balls) showing much interest in going for the win.
In the end, the world's number one ODI side got exactly what they deserved.
To complete their misery, South Africa were fined for their slow over-rate during the match.
Match referee Chris Broad ruled that they were one over short of their target so the players were fined five per cent of their match fee with captain Graeme Smith fined 10 per cent of his fee.

they did enough for us already! no need to pressure the young players.
this time we beat 3, 4 or 5 good teams, next world cup we'll beat twice that many.
english players were shaking at the end when they lost 6 wickets.
yea.... we scared them and that's all that matters...
we showed the world we are capable :D...............

When Australia plays its superb......... they play the game with the right attitude.. AGGRESSION FILLED WITH INTELIGENCE......
They are undefeated in world cup matches from 1999
Their win against IRELAND is their 24th consecutive win in WC
They are the best.....seems Aussies will win again...

There's somthing about this worldcup that lacks the "oomph". No its not because India and Pakistan are out, they deserved to be booted out the way they played. The rain-shortened matches with low attendance at the venues aren’t helping either. Right now, the World cup is effectively down to four teams - Australia, South Africa, New Zealand, and Sri Lanka - who most probably will reach the last four. Then I hope at least those final matches would be worth watching.

Well it seems there is no one to poll for lankans
but still i shall poll and watch them rain over the aussies.
and once again the aussies will go for a tour on lankans and demolish them
trying to regain their pride as it happened with Bangladesh

Aussies made it to the worldcup final for the fourth time in a row. And each time it was against an asian team. Out of those, the only team to beat Aus in a final was SriLanka [in 1996], so we can keep our hopes up.

world cup over and what a crap one it was aswell. nearly all matches were one sided. bob woolmer died:(, inzamam retired:(:(
there was no excitement, most matches were affected by rain, nex time the WC in asia, lol der wont be no rain, but players may die from dehydration:p
i think they should change format next time, they should have 1 massive group, every one plays everyone and top 4, go into semis! now thats a world cup:shade:
