"For people who reflect.”

Allah(swt) says:

And it is He Who spread out the earth, and placed therein firm mountains and rivers and of every kind of fruits He made Zawjain Ithnain (two in pairs - may mean two kinds or it may mean: of two sorts, e.g. black and white, sweet and sour, small and big, etc.) He brings the night as a cover over the day. Verily, in these things, there are Ayat (proofs, evidences, lessons, signs, etc.) for people who reflect.”

Are we “yatafakkaroon” (those who reflect)?

When you look at anything or at any situation does it draw up Quranic verses or at least give a sense of awe in your Lord? If yes, than you may be of the “yatafakkaroon”(People who reflect).

Reflecting and pondering is very much a part of Islam, a part that many ignore cause it is not really something that gets taught in a school or Uni. This is something that Allah(swt) blesses you with, something that is a great Ni'mah indeed.

Allah(swt) says:

And He has made subservient for you the night and the day and the sun and the moon, and the stars are made subservient by His commandment; most surely there are signs in this for a people who ponder(yaAAqiloon)...”

SubhanAllah! Now look how Allah says this about the Quran as well:

Will they not then ponder(yatadabbaroona) on the Qur'an? If it had been from other than Allah they would have found therein much incongruity.”

What an amazing gift!

Some read the Quran to just read it, not that they do not get blessing from it. The person who just reads does get blessing, but not like the person who reads and ponders.

Allah says:

(This is) a Scripture that We have revealed unto thee, full of blessing, that they may ponder its revelations, and that men of understanding may reflect.”

As seen above, we are told to ponder and think about the Quran and even nature and how it works around us.

Why is it so hard to for some to ponder and think?

Well, one could easily say that modern times has much to do with it. With all the hustle and bustle in cities and even towns we have a hard time even looking at the sky let alone think and ponder about it!
We have cars buzzing by, air plains screeching through the air waves and everything else beeping and sounding off all at once. Some people have become so used to this madness that silence kills them. You can find even the Muslim having a TV on while they are around and about the house just to have some sort of noise. People turn on music and anything else to sound out the eeriness of silence...

Why is it that many are so afraid of silence? Maybe cause it gives you the clarity to think.

Why would the clarity to think be a problem? Maybe cause one will finally have the time to think about more serious things, like life and death.

Nature can be a cure for someone with a mind clouded with horns, cars buzzing, air plains landing, TV's blaring, people screaming etc etc.

Take the time to go out to a field or the desert or the woods or jungle, wherever and however you will get their and take the time to ponder about life, death and how you are going to face them. If you can not do that, read the Quran and ponder on it's meanings. Try doing this after you make your Fajr, and after that try thinking for awhile about how great Allah(swt) is!

Allah says:

And of the fruits of the palms and the grapes-- you obtain from them intoxication and goodly provision; most surely there is a sign in this for a people who ponder.”

Have you ever just thought about how fruits are? How an apple tree grows and produces fruits that become ripe and delicious for the taster. Think about how the part you don't eat or can not digest just happens to be the part needed to go back into the earth to grow! SubhanAllah! The tree reproduces and the person or animal gets fed and helps the reproduction by eating!

Verily, in these things, there are Ayat (proofs, evidences, lessons, signs, etc.) for people who reflect.”

Think about the star and how science tells us that most have burnt out thousands of years ago, but they are so far away we still are and have yet to receive their light. Amazing is The One Who created such vastness! Think! If space is that great, HOW MUCH MORE GREATER IS THE ONE WHO CREATED IT!

MashaAllah....

Even in ourselves can we find such amazing miracles! Have you ever just thought about the ability to see, I mean really thought about it?

Allah says:

Have they not pondered upon themselves?”

When we take the time to look and see with our eyes and hearts, we will find that we are in awe over our Lord(swt).

Remember this, how many people will find destruction for not thinking and pondering due to arrogance and ignorance:

And they shall say: Had we but listened or pondered, we should not have been among the inmates of the burning fire.”

So in pondering we find guidance(to Islam or in Islam), and in guidance we find the ability to worship and get to our destination...The pleasure of our Lord and His Jannah.

I hope that we all learn how to ponder on the Ayat that Allah(swt) may bless us all in this life and in the hereafter.

Wa AllahuAlim (And Allaah knows best.)
