Another question prompted by comments in another thread. Is all music held to be un-Islamic? Some people have seemed to indicate so, and the Taliban certainly thought that music was un-Islamic. Yet I've seen and heard of plenty of Muslims who listen to and perform music. Who's right?

The vast majority of Islamic scholars, consider musical instruments to be forbidden. The only exception is a certain type of drum.
