firsty let me say: woahhh, today's tahjjud was great!!! i loved it!!! will be saving that to the harddrive, inshallah. with what, shuraims recitation, than sudais recitation where i dont know exactly what part of surat ale imraan it was, but his whole tune changed. it was awesome. then sudias dua. brilliant.
btw, is it just me, or did you people also notice that man standing next to sh. Ale taalib (the man that wasn't wearing a bisht). is it just me, or does he look alot like him?
btw, since when was sh thubaity doing tahajjud??

im sorry, she's right. i tuned in when he was reciting the ayahs that are like the ones also at the beginning of surat al-muminoon. thats why i was wrong.

as for the ideas, i think you should divide the prayers in two sections. no, wait, make that three. in other words, you should have three columns. one named "prayers from Makkah," the other "prayers from medina," and the other named Taraweeh prayers. in the makkah and medina sections you should post the main prayers (fajr, etc) and for the taraweeh sections, obvioulsy post the taraweeh prayers. then leave the taraweeh section, say till around eid ul adha, then you should archieve them or something. oh yeah, i just thought of something else. have a seperate section for the jumuah prayers too. is that unrealistic??

I've been plucking up the courage to post in this thread for quite some time as it seems very popular, but i feel out of my depth. I just wanted to ask, is the Taraweeh recitation different every year?? Is that why it is such a huge deal? I don't mean to sound disrespectful but why don't you just watch previous years recordings?

Simply put yeh..Taraweeh is different every year :) in the sense that the styles that the Imams recite in can be different or maybe the parts that they read..apart from that watching taraweeh live is just amazing :)

Ramadan finished, it went by soo fast. no more Taraweeh to watch, no more Tahajjud salaats to watch, no more amazing recitations of Sheikh Sudais and Shuraim (and Shiekh Juhany and Mahir) no more listening to Shiekh Sudais and Shuraim everyday since they do not lead normal prayers these days. Anyhoo, Eid is shortly after Shurooq, which is around 6:14am Makkah time.

Normally it is related to Ramadhan and Eid al-Fitr, but some people go to the extreme of saying that even the sighting of the crescent of Dhul-Hijjah is wrongly declared by the Saudi Government thus causing three million people's Hajj to be invalid.

It's not strange to see such comments from people who narrate anything and everything they here. Yet the sad reality is that many of the people that carry on and propagate these rumors are people that know of the Hadeeth of our beloved Prophet, sallallaahu `alaihi wa sallam, in which he said, "It's enough for a man to be considered a liar that he reports all that he hears."

The logic behind being considered a liar based on narrating all you hear is pretty simple. If somebody tells you something, whether it is truth or not, you take it upon yourslef to propagate that news. Let's say the guy that told you that news did the same thing you are about to do: Somebody told him a rumor and he decided that he will tell others. What if the person that started the rumor was joking, or misunderstood something regarding the sighting of the moon or worse of all, what if this person was lying?

HUH!? Lying about such a thing? Why would somebody do that?

I have been seeing a lot of propaganda these days about the Saudi government and its "ultra-conservative" ways and how people go overboard in the month of Ramadhan to be super-religious... Basically, that it's a fake way of life for thirty days.

I don't mean to go off on a tangent, it's just that people don't really like Saudi Arabia. It's against the law to fornicate, to get drunk or get high...
And worse of all for all those losers: The punishments (which are according to the Qur'aan and Sunnah) are pretty tough...

So then we shouldn't be surprised when people go ahead and make up rumors like:
"Saudi Arabia deliberately started Ramadhan early..."
"Saudi Arabia runs on a predetermined calendar..."
"They made an announcement int he Haram that th emoon was sighted incorrectly... My uncle was there I swear!"
"There's too much dust, those Saudis don't know how to sight the moon, the don't even have the new Gigatronicated Celestial Inspector Gadget Telescope!"

For now, I'd just like to say, that the moon was sighted, correctly and accurately. They have very qualified people who have decades of experience in sighting the moon and any rumors that scholars here might have declared the sighting to be inaccruate are just plain rumors.

one thing bro Ibn Ruwahah, according to earlier information you gave, it was stating basically that scientifically it is impossible for the moon to be sighted on Thursday, as in Eid being Friday. But remember Allah can make the impossible possible. So even though, scientifically it may have been impossible, may be Allah just proved not to follow science and he made the moon appear, and thus even the Saudis were surprised that Eid is on Friday. i hope i am making some sense

Wizra Ukhra - I also like Mohsin Al Qasim - he is a very good recitor - but from my experience in Madina Munnawarah this year Shaykh Salah Budair is in a league of his own - did anyone listen to his yaseen - when he started crying after reading..."wamtazul yawma ayuhal mujrimoon..." it was electric in the mosque everyone was crying!

I was blessed enough to spend some time with Shaykh Saleh bin Humaid this year I used to visit him after Fajr! Speaks excellent english mashallah! Also Shaykh Shuraim in his office in Babul Fath after traweeh - he is amazing!

By the way, they have changed the gate the imams use now it used to be king abdul aziz gate palace entrance but they have built a bridge there now instead they use the entrance opposite Babul Ajyad now - its just round the corner from the original gate they used to use. Its easy to spot it as there are armed guards there!

Inshallah will be going hajj this year - only 8 weeks to go until I return - cant wait.

i was at a relatives house as well. and they just got a new comp. so i was worried that there wasn't going to be any sound on their new computer, because i was worried that they hadn't bought speakers yet. it turns out i didn't have access to the net!! one whole week without taraweeh and tahjjud. i was gutted!! one whole week! i couldnt wait to get back home. at times i remebered sh shuraims tunes from the recitation of surat at-taubah were he broke down and cried, and the tahjjud dua a few years back. they're are different tunes from his usual. not good. i have a lot of catching up to do as well.
word of advice, make sure you keep your mind occupied, otherwise, post ramadan blues might hit you hard.

i want Sheikh Shuraim to do fajr as welll.......and i want Shiekh Sudais to do Maghrib and Isha, like how it was back in the days.........to be honest, i acutally just wanted Shiekh Shuraim and Sudais to do taraweeh, like in 1425 so that one day Sheikh Sudais does the Qunoot Dua, and the other day Sheikh Shuraim does it. But Alhamdulillah, despite it not being compiled by my wish, Taraweeh and Tahajjud both in Makkah and Madina were Masha'Allah excellent and gave new surprises like Shiekh Mahir's excellent recitation though i must admit it was my first year watching them live and being interested in it. However, without Ramadan, it feels like all the noor, patience and happiness is gone. May Allah bless us with another beautiful Ramadan, though this time in Makkah :)
