I believe the best suggestion has been made.

those of us with even a speck of graphic skills can make smilies. These can be halal and acceptable to all of our members. The best part is they would be free from copyright violations.

So let us get busy and start making some. If we get a few made and posted in gif or jpeg format a few of us have the software to resize them all to the same size.

I'm not sure if it's been mentioned before, but the reason we removed the smiley with the tongue sticking out is because such smileys are often used inappropriately between members of the opposite gender, and this goes for most smileys although some are worse than others.
