View Full Version : It is hard..

It is hard,
So hard.
The stress,
The expectation,
The obligation:

“Uphold the family image”
“ Uphold Islam”
“ Make something of yourself”
“ Be successful”
“ Get better Grades”
“ Prove to your teachers you can”
“ Be an example to your siblings
to other Muslim women”
“ You have more opportunities then I ever had”
“ Why aren’t you studying”
“ Study harder”
“ Do your homework”
“ Listen to your teachers”
“ What are they teaching you”
“ You just have to work harder”
“ You don’t take school serious enough”
“ You can be anything you want…….
anything at all…………”

But, what do I want to be
What do I want to study
Can I please them all?

Can not be a failure
Can not fail
Can not fall.

Oh Allah, as the Prophet prayed for his cousin Abdullah, please

" O Lord, make (Me) acquire a deep understanding of the religion of Islam and instruct
(Me) in the meaning and interpretation of things."

Grant me Patience,
Grant me strength,
Grant me knowledge

Let me be guided to the straight path
Chose a good career
Please my parents
Propogate Islam

Please Allah do not let me fail
Do not let me fall.

asalam o 'alykum warahmatulahi wabarakatuh.

masha Allaah subhan Allaah! nice poem sis.. i've really noticed how most parents want their children to do really well on their education to become a doctar, lawyer etc. but yet most of the time they put islam last. they might say that islam approves of worldly education too.. but we gota remember that even if worldly education is approved of, islam is obligatory so we should focus on that even more... i really liked that poem sis because we can relate it to our brothers and sisters of todays times..

repz for you! lol

lol, i can't put it any better sis, sooo true and quite sad really as Akhee stated, education comes first in most muslims family today, noone seem's to be bothered about thier deen, like we've started islamic socitey in our college and there's only 3 girls who attend (including myself) :enough!: and to make things worse our college is full of (so-called) muslims :peace:

Realli good poem Mashallah, enjoyed reading that...there is sooo much pressure on our brothers and sisters nowadays and yh i do agree for sme families education before islam does come first, but it is our duty to acquire knowledge secular as well as islamic but i strongly believe that it should be balanced...jazkhallah for postn that sista
