Ermm...*baffled* I recorded it... But I heard Sheikh Taalib recite Surah Ma'un in the second rakaah? :?

Yeah, I recorded Fajr. I'll upload it. But, the quality is super poor.

Sheikh Taalib's leadin Isha. End of Surah Hashr. :D

 so? :okay:

Anyways, we don't even know whether SST led dhuhr or asr .. so let's not jump to conclusions about him going on Hajj and I said before, it's their personal lives so we will leave that to the side. And why would the imams take bodyguards with them? Hello, it's Hajj. :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :)

No there is nothing wrong that insha'Allah. There would also be nothing wrong insha'Allah whether Sheikh Subbayl led all week or Sheikh Shuraim.
I fail to see what's wrong? :? :?

ok enough of this issue
2004 taraweeh SS read awesome, he was on top form that year, but 2003 was the best year, everyone was on top form especially SS and SST

Sheikh Salih al Talib recited this when I was there. It was my first prayer and it was maghrib. I had just completed the sa'i and prayed the 2 nafil when the adhan went off. I can NEVER forget that adhan.. it was subhanallah BEAUTIFUL.
I prayed directly behind Sheikh Salih al Talib cos I had just finished the sa'i and prayed and I saw him coming to the leading spot. :giggling:

Yea.. but c'mon, even the saudis need some time in the Haram. :okay:
This is when the Haram is empty and you can do tawaaf and sa'i quick and easy and see and meet the imam properly. No visas for 2 months now innit?

Alhamdulillah I got pray behind SST (for a few days all 5 prayers) then SAS, SK once, and SMS the last ishas I was there. :)
I didn't get to pray behind Sheikh Shuraim however, 3 years ago I did. I still remember his salam. :)

Also, our last umra was 4 hours before our flight back. Sheikh Shuraim led that days fajr. I was in Madinah though. :giggling:

Also, I remember him adjusting the mic at isha once.

wAK - he normally says istow twice. So he adjusted the mic, in case people didn't hear and to see whether the mic was fine.
Not too unusual. ;)

A bit off the subject, but for those who live in London, does anyone know where i can get a good bisht from?
All of mine are from Saudi and the last time I went into an Islamic bookshop, the person on the till didn't even know what a bisht was!!! Bit weird, i thought, but they might call it something different over here.

While I was in Madinah (Which was about 4 years), i acumulated about 20 of them. Some are average, which means they don't cost much. They are all full arms and my ones are either black or white. I dont't like the other colours.
Ive got a few (very) expensive ones that were given to me by my teacher, Sheikh Muhammad al-Qaasim when i graduated from uni.
Over in Saudi, bishts and thoubs are not very expensive. Over here, they cost an absolute bomb.
By the way, how much did you pay for your one?

mst - Just because Sheikh Salih al Talib was leading all 5 prayers didn't mean he would give the khutbah.. I say this because he was leading all 5 when I was there (:coolious:) and out of no where, Sheikh Usama Khayyat came and gave the khutbah. :-\:-\:-\

Don't they always pray for rain in every khutba dua? like 99.99999% of the times? :?

Oh yea, and I forgot to add.. todays isha was exceptionally beautifully relaxing masha'Allah ..

Very true. What i like most about him is the clarity of his recitation. Unlike Sudais, he pronounces every letter clearly. Sudais tends to mumble some of the letters because he recites with a different tone.

I didnt mean it like that. SAS pronounces, but it is his tone that makes him keep some of his words in. You could be right about the mic, but even in the haram it is noticeable whereas shuraim does not.

Not a good way of describing Sheihk Abdur Rahman al Sudais with a mumbling tone. He recites clear.

Heard the one where Sheikh Saud ibn Ibrahim ash Shuraim (Typing out the whole name as a mark of respect.)recites, nah'ree joo kum then breaks down in tears, instead of "naree jahan'nama da'a, in surat at-tur. SubhanAllah.

Definition of mumble; to speak unclearly and quietly so that the words are difficult to understand.

how can there be beauty in mis-pronouncing which could change meanings? if they mis-pronounce or make mistakes then they tend to correct themselves, taqwa doesn't have to be shown by mis-pronounciatation

I see where this is going. Sheikh Sa'ud al-Shuraim learnt a different style of tajweed to Sheikh Abdur-Rahman al-Sudais. Sudais uses a style where he exerts a lot from the throat and nose, wherease Shuraim uses a style where he does not use his nose a lot. I teach tajweed and I have a lot of students who try to copy Sudais. They tend to recite solely with their nose and so the sound is changed. This is not serious, but changing words and making mistakes without correcting oneself is, as it can lead to the meaning being changed.

Do you think it is harder to imitate Sheikh Shuraim. I always thought it was the easier of the two. I imitate Sheikh Mishary al-Afasy. When he left Madinah, i had only just started. As we had the same tajweed teacher, i remember him quite well. Nobody would have guessed that Sheikh Mishary would have gone on to make such a name for himself and become the main imam in the grand masjid of kuwait.

SS is the main khateeb of the haram in makkah, even though he is not as experienced as SAS but he has higher level qualifications from higher level institutions. The haram imams are well paid (i know sheikh juhany's salary but im not going to disclose it - just put it like this, its more than 5 figures he's earning) They get paid from their day jobs and some imams (like SAS) are absolutely loaded. he is not extravagant, though even though he has 4 wives and a semi-palace. Ive been there and it takes about 5 minutes to go from the gate to the entrance by car.

Ive been there and it takes about 5 minutes to go from the gate to the entrance by car.

whoa whoa whoa hold yer horses ... !

Firstly, I'm sure we all know that money does not determine how noble a person is or not. :)
Secondly, let's not talk about their money? How much they earn? .. Let's leave that to them since it's their personal matter. :)
Everyone is equal in the eyes of Allah. Fair enough, we have our own favourites.. nothing wrong with that insha'Allah but we have to keep within our given limits and not judge anyone and say who is better than who since only Allah decides upon that matter.

We really shouldn't argue over petty little things. This is the reason why the ummah is in the situation it is ..

..and when a certain imam who is not your favourite leads, just say alhamdulillah ala kulli haal. :)

cmon ppl...we shudnt be judging the Nobelity of the Imams....Allah knows best as to who is more closer to Him..:)

Let me water it down to you guys as to how an Imam is selected for the Haramain Sharifain..There is something called as application:rollseyes..
The imams apply for an Imamship although they are very vigilant of not making the Imamship as a permanent post...
there is no fixed salary for an imam, nor do the imams ask for one.
It just comes:) ...when i say it comes...trust me...the salaries are incredibly high. The royal family selects the imam...

:Alhumdill I love all the imams specially SS and SST...

Usually from Najd for some reason....AllahuAa'laam...Although we all now the Hijazis have a better Qiraa when it comes to recitation
The quality of reciation isnt dependent upon the area, a person in China can very well be better then all the imams put together Allah knows best. It is Allah that bestows His Mercy (teaching us the Quran) upon us.

n one more thing...it has to be a Salafi
I know your just pointing this out, however please refrain from going into sectarian issues it doesnt belong in this thread and its against the Forum Rules

lets not judge what sectarian the imams of haram are in because they themselves never declared what sectarian they are in so its best not to speculate and allahu alam

Yes  SaudiTV broadcasts the live prayers. They show Fajr and Isha from Makkah and Maghrib from Madinah. Heres the link to watch it http://www.kacst.edu.sa/en/stream/SaudiTV-high-Band.asx

It will play in windows media player. The next salah is at 4.38 GMT .....I think:rollseyes :brother:
