Well, is anyone going to answer my question?

Is sheikh Shuraim going to any countries now that the Hajj season is over and Ramadhan not for a good 7 or 8 months?

I mean, if he was let's say to come to the UK on Feb 3rd, then yea.. we would know and it wudda been all over this forum. :p

But of someone asks when are they coming in near future? We dunno. :sister:

Sheikh Shuraim led fajr today recited Surah Al Buruuj in the first rakaah and Surah Ghaasyiyah in the second rakaah. Yesterday fajr was also led by Sheikh Shuraim and maybe saturday fajr was also led by him. He was leading in front of kaabah and his recitation was very nice as usual.

As-salaamu 'alaykum

Ash-shaykh ash-Shuraym normally says: "Istawoo, istawoo, aqeemoo sufoofakum wa suddoo al-khalal". Sometimes, he says: "Wa laa takhtalifoo fatakhtalifa quloobukum" (as is mentioned in al-Hadith).

But the muazzin doesn't say this. That just shows on the screen (by the TV channel for the viewers' benefit. The muazzin actually calls out: "Salaatul-qiyaami athaabukumAllah!".

Wa 'alaykum as-salaam

"AthaabakumAllah" doesn't mean that! The verb "athaaba, yutheebu" means "to reward" (thawaab = reward), so the meaning of the above would be "May Allah reward you!". Yes, you could say indirectly that the muazzin is calling those who wish to obtain reward from Allah 'Azza wa Jall to get ready.

Allahu Alam
What's not the same thing, brother (assuming you're referring to my post)?

I'd also like to mention, since you are unconvinced, that when questions are posed to great scholars (e.g. the grand mufti of SA) on the saudi radio, the questioner ends by saying "athaabakumAllah fadheelat ash-shaykh". So, I really think the meaning here holds.

Furthermore, I just searched (you can do that too) and found a website which has put the same translation for this call. I'm not putting it here because it's a fatwah ruling it to be bid'ah (subHaanAllah)!

Hope you come to the same conclusion as me, athaabakumAllah!

Oh, and don't expect Sheikh Shuraim or anyone else to lead Isha for a while... Unless whoever takes the khutbah will take Isha tomorrow..mayyyyybe. But mostly its gonna be Sheikh Subayyal for a while. :D

I really don’t understand how you people can actually watch most of these prayers (Mashallah); I think we have imam stalkers in the house!

I tried watching it for a whole day once and of course I failed, so now when I switch to the Saudi channel I know exactly what I’m going to see. Horses, oh yes and if I’m really lucky I’ll catch one of the adverts.

So I’m sticking to my tapes of Sheikh Sudais and Shuraim for now until I visit the haram inshallah.

The imam should not lead the prayer while reading from the qur'an - if that is a quran they should not have allowed him to do it. Maybe he was losing track of his recitation and there was nobody behind him to correct him in which case it is allowed, but this is not likely to be the case as he was in a major masjid

You dont seem to have understood me.
You CANNOT read from the Qur'an while leading a congregational prayer (except taraweeh). For taraweeh an exeption has been made because the imams recite the whole qur'an. This does not mean that you dont have to be a hafiz. Even the huffaz make mistakes or they miss lines while reciting so it has been allowed.

Could you translate the Khatam al-Qur'aan Dua that takes place in the haram in 1425 by shaykh sudais.

The dua's can be found in any of these links

1)http://www.alquranic.com/mp3quran/Du...As-Sudais).mp3

2)http://rds.yahoo.com/S=96781308/K=du...edia.comt).wmv

3)http://www.islamicity.com/audio/ra90_100.ram

Jazakhallah that would be alot of help to many brothers and sisters who do not speak arabic.

Just a general reminder, please don't feel higher then a sheikh. They know what situation they are facing and why they do whatever they have to do. True, they not prophets and are likely to fall in error. But if they fall in error, it is not our duty to pick on them. Nothing comes out insulting them.

Only Allah knows what is their hearts.

:)

Here's Sheikh Budayr's dua.
http://www.muslimtents.com/iharam/dua 9-29-1426.mp3

And here's the Surah Tawbah from this year where Sheikh Shuraim got emotional. Its around 2:18 or sommat..
http://www.muslimtents.com/iharam/Surah Tawbah 2.mp3

Know they not that Allah doth accept repentance from His votaries and receives their gifts of charity, and that Allah is verily He, the Oft-Returning, Most Merciful?
And say: "Work (righteousness): Soon will Allah observe your work, and His Messenger, and the Believers: Soon will ye be brought back to the knower of what is hidden and what is open: then will He show you the truth of all that ye did."
There are (yet) others, held in suspense for the command of Allah, whether He will punish them, or turn in mercy to them: and Allah is All-Knowing, Wise.
[Surah Tawbah / 104-106]

Annndd...:( I've been missing Maghrib and Isha lately. Can't come on the computer. :(

It actually is hard to find pictures of imams. Not sure about where I can get a picture of Shaikh Muhaisany from but heres a pic of Shaikh Huzaifi and Shaikh Khulaify (former Imam of Makkah)

p.s. I have a video of Taraweeh in year ???? where both these imams lead, Inshallah will post it soon

And to add, heres a picture of Shaikh Abdullah al Subbayl (Imam of Makkah)

i went there when i was 13 for 'Umrah with my mother (Allah yar7ama) and my brother and sister.... was in 2002 I think. I remember how it looked like, it was as if i went yesterday. Masha-Allah stunning. But you walk 5 mins into town and it looks like a shanty:(. The rulers should do more for the Holy City and Birth place of our Prophet (SAW). However, I can't remember which sheikh was leading the prayer though. I didn't know any of the imams back then. I wish i knew:(.

Live Islam dates do not always correspond with Saudi dates. So if they say 12th, the doesn't mean its 12th in Saudi. :)

Doesn't matter...

has anyone listened to the new tune that ash-Shaykh ash-Shuraym unleashed for one night only on the last night of Ramadhan 1419AH? We recorded a bit on tape live (that's the year I started recording the grand shaykh's qiraa-ah) but masha-Allah sohari.com have all of it online (though it's not excellent quality): http://www.sohari.com/nawader_t/mekk...anfal_1419.ram, http://www.sohari.com/nawader_t/mekk...nfal_2_1419.rm, http://www.sohari.com/nawader_t/mosh..._tobah_1419.rm and http://www.sohari.com/nawader_t/moshtarak/listen/shraim_sodays_younus_1419(1-70).ram

The khutub (khutbahs) are given in classical (pure Qur-aanic) Arabic which all Arabs are taught.

Non-arabs, like me, who've learnt, and are still learning, arabic can understand varying amounts. Arabic is a beautiful language and I don't know how a Muslim cannot take the time out to at least try to learn it! Once you understand the basics, you can generally get a gist of what's being said.

However, a word of warning, ash-Shaykh as-Sudays' khutub are generally very high-level! Listen to today's khutbah, for example, and you'll hear many sentences rhyming and loads of new words (that I know I've never come across, but then again Arabic's a never-ending language).
