Re: Validity of a 'hadeeth' regarding Day of Judgment

I just got a text saying tha following...
'Judgment day is almost near. Our Prophet (saw) told us there would be 3 major earthquakes before Judgment Day; one in tha East & one in tha West & tha other in Arabia.. There has already been
1) Tsunami (East)
2) Haiti (West).....'

Can someone verify if its even a valid saying of tha Prophet (pbuh) which book of hadeeth this is from and so forth... JazakAllah Khair in advance

Re: Validity of a 'hadeeth' regarding Day of Judgment

Yes, 3 earthquakes have been foretold in the hadiths. However, it is impossible to say whether the 2004 tsunami quake and the recent Haiti event are of those mentioned.

Hadith on Day of Judgment

Technology has afforded us the opportunity to research before we post. The mentioning of three earthquakes is cited in wikipedia and the source not confirmed. I will continue to research.

If you look below that is how a citing of Quran and Sunnah is posted for someone to research.

If you haven't read the entire collection of Sahih Al-Bukhari and Sahih Muslim and continue to post on Islamic topics you are doing yourself a disservice. Stop right now and go read the entire collection and you will thank yourself. It may provide some clarity and insight to a Muslims daily practice. Insha Allah

The Prophet said, "The Hour (Last Day) will not be established until (religious) knowledge will be taken away (by the death of religious learned men), earthquakes will be very frequent, time will pass quickly, afflictions will appear, murders will increase and money will overflow amongst you." (See Hadith No. 85 Vol 1).

Narrated Ibn 'Umar:Allah's Apostle (p.b.u.h) said, "Keys of the unseen knowledge are five which nobody knows but Allah . . . nobody knows what will happen tomorrow; nobody knows what is in the womb; nobody knows what he will gain tomorrow; nobody knows at what place he will die; and nobody knows when it will rain."

Wa alaykum salam,

Just because wikipedia hasn't mentioned a source doesn't mean it's not true. Why do you assume I got my information from wiki? Do you think I just google my deen?

I have read and heard in many places that there will be 3 earthquakes. I have heard shuyookh say it. I don't need to pin point the very hadith it is from, if I heard it from shayukh. I trust their judgement.

The OP asked for hadith references, I will leave that to anybody who knows, but don't assume just because somebody hasn't posted a reference that it is not true.

If you haven't read the entire collection of Sahih Al-Bukhari and Sahih Muslim and continue to post on Islamic topics you are doing yourself a disservice. Why do you assume that I haven't read the entire collection of Sahih-Al Bukhari and Sahih Muslim? You shouldn't assume bad of your brothers inshaAllah, it is bad adab and quite arrogant.

Forum rules do not say that those who have not read the entire collections of Bukhari and Muslim cannot post on Islamic topics. Whilst it is good to enourage each other to increase in knowledge, we should not be making assumptions about who has and hasn't read them.

The original poster requested evidence........ .
Exactly. So lets do just that.

"Hudhaifa b. Usaid Ghifari reported: Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) came to us all of a sudden as we were (busy in a discussion). He said: What do you discuss about? They (the Companions) said. We are discussing about the Last Hour. Thereupon he said: It will not cone until you see ten signs before and (in this connection) he made a mention of the smoke, Dajjal, the beast, the rising of the sun from the west, the descent of Jesus son of Mary (Allah be pleased with him), the Gog and Magog, and land-slidings in three places, one in the east, one in the west and one in Arabia at the end of which fire would burn forth from the Yemen, and would drive people to the place of their assembly." (Saheeh Muslim, Chapter 13, Book 041, No 6391)

"Hudhaifa b. Usaid reported: Allah's Apostle (may peace be upon him) was in an apartment and we were beneath that that he peeped in and said to us: What are you discussing about? We said: (We are discussing about the Last) Hour. Thereupon he said: The Last Hour would not come until the ten signs dppear: land-sliding in the east, and land-sliding in the west, and land-sliding in the peninsula of Arabia, the smoke, the Dajjal, the beast of the earth, Gog and Magog, the rising of the sun from the west and the fire which would emit from the lower part of 'Adan. Shu'ba said that 'Abd al-'Aziz b. Rufai' reported on the authority of Abu Tufail who reported on the authority of Abu Sariha a hadith like this that Allah's Apostle (may peace be upon him) did not make a mention of (the tenth sign) but he said that out of the ten one was the descent of Jesus Christ, son of Mary (peace be upon him), and in another version it is theb lowing of the violent gale which would drive the people to the ocean." (Saheeh Muslim, Chapter 13, Book 041, No 6392)

Hope that helps you sister.

Ukh Insane Insaan:

First let me thank you for providing the Sahih reference that OP requested.

I continued to be mystified regarding the accusation that I am assuming
someone hasn't read the Sahih.

My post:

If you haven't read the entire collection of Sahih Al-Bukhari and Sahih Muslim.

It is plain to me what was posted. It didn't change.

Re: Validity of a 'hadeeth' regarding Day of Judgment

Brother, just because you added an 'if', it doesn't negate the fact that there is an implication in your words. Khayr, if you didn't mean it that way, then apologies.

Re: Validity of a 'hadeeth' regarding Day of Judgment

Wow. I didn't realise there'd be an argument over this. =( Anyways, JazakAllah Khair everybody. It's scary isn't it? How Allah's literally wiped out nations, just as He said He would in tha Quran & we're here witnessing it. Kind of begs tha question.. What is OUR fate? =( May Allah protect us all..
JazakAllah Khair again & AssalaamuAlaykum Wa'Rahmatullahi Wa'Barakatuh

Wa iyyaaki, sis.

You raised a really important point there that we should all contemplate. What exactly is or will be our fate? Yes, may Allah guide us all, protect us all and forgive us our sins. Ameen.
