This new film documents the story of two men, Imam Muhammad Ashafa and Pastor James Wuye from Kaduna, northern Nigeria.

At the beginning of the 1990s they were bitter enemies as leaders of opposing militias set up to defend their respective communities at a time of ethnic and religious tension; by the end of the '90s they were jointly leading task-forces to different parts of Nigeria to promote reconciliation between communities.

The 40-minute documentary, narrated by Rageh Omaar, pulsing with the verve, colour and music of West Africa, tells how they made this remarkable transition.

It was launched at the UN in New York in November, where Ambassador Aminu Wali of the Nigerian Permanent Mission described it as 'powerful and timely'.

Its first screening in Britain was in Parliament in December hosted by John Battle MP, the Prime Minister's envoy to the Faith communities. The Archbishop of Canterbury Dr Rowan Williams, who met the two men at the time of the launch, said, ‘Imam Ashafa and Pastor James, and the film that captures their honest and inspiring story, offer a message full of hope for those with hate in their hearts, and for everyone who believes in the loving potential of all human beings.

They are a model for Muslim-Christian and inter-faith relations in Britain and abroad.’

The film has been made by a Christian-Muslim duo, Producer/Director Alan Channer and Associate Producer Imad Karam of FLTfilms, a division of Initiatives of Change.

It is an ideal conversation-starter for groups wishing to discuss Muslim-Christian relations and a discussion guide will be available shortly.

DVDs are available at £15.99 (inc UK p&p) via the website www.fltfilms.org.uk or by post to FLTfilms, 24 Greencoat Place, London, SW1P 1RD, UK Tel: + 44 (0)20 7798 6020.

Reports on the British launch may be found on www.uk.iofc.org/home/

*Without Allah, without Islam, life would be meaningless. If I've ever learned patience, it's because of this. Alhamdulillah...*

The Imam and the Pastor : Anybody saw the movie ?

The path is long but I hope we meet,
After the grave and the Day, in paradise in bliss upon a reclined seat.

A traveler traveling - travelled from shirk to tawheed,
If I'm remembered for anything - let it be the Mercy I seek.
