We had a writing contest at the beginning of this year and we had announced that there will be a poetry contest sometime later. But due to lack of activity on the forum, we kept postponing it.
If there is enough interest, we can go ahead and host a contest now. So are you interested in participating?
Vote above on the poll or simply post a reply below.
Update:
The contest has already started a few days ago. Keep sending your entries by PM to me. Here are a few guidelines copied from a previous contest, with a few additions/updates:
So here's the deal...
1) PM you poem to me 2) You have until the 15th20th of November 2017 (extended until 20th of November) 3) You can write about anything at all Insha'Allah, as long as there is nothing anti-Islamic 4) please do not share your entry with anybody (that should go without saying) 5) there is no need to advertise the fact that you are entering insha'Allah 6) No encouraging friends to vote for you insha'Allah 7) You shall be disqualified () if you plagiarise. It must be your own work. No copying and no translating existing poems from other languages 8) The most important thing is other members not knowing which poem is yours...

Reason: update + extension
I enjoyed all the poems very much. Poem 7 was my favorite -- just a wonderful rhythm to it. Congratulations to Tuba for touching everyone's hearts and winning it all
Anatolian, I'm glad you liked my poem! There's a story behind it: Several years ago, while I was helping my mother and step-father move into a new house, I found a very interesting medallion on a chain. It was plain metal, with a beautiful design on the front, and on the back it read: "To Bev, from Roy, with love." This was a gift that my father had handmade for my mother when they were young. My father died of brain cancer when I was 6 years old, so finding something like that meant a lot to me. I was going through some very tough times, and I used the experience as an inspiration to push me forward. Writing that poem was very spiritual for me.
Thanks all for reading and contributing to this celebration of poetry. Wishing you all a Happy New Year!

Salam. I am glad too you liked my poem.
Thats very ttouching. I have already understood that it had such an emotional experience background. Also it has a very rich vocabulary that draws you back into it

Anatolian,
My friend, I replied quickly to your first post, and I didn't realize that Poem #7 was your poem! I read it to my wife this morning, and she enjoyed it very much, too. "Allah is with the lovers." Lovely
