As-Salaam alaikum,
The Noble Messenger of Allah, Sallallahu alaihi Wasallam, said:--

"He has tasted the sweetness of Imaan [faith]: he who is content with Allah as his Lord, Islam as
his religion, and Muhammad as his prophet."
[Muslim].

Indeed, we must know that Allah, the Ever-Glorious and Merciful Lord of the Universe, has portioned for every one of us our provision. As long as we work, we get what is written for us. In this regard, the Prophet, alaihi-Salaat Wassalam, said:--

"Know that even if the whole of community were to gather together to benefit with something, they would
not benefit you with anything except that which Allah has already recorded for you, and that if they gather
together to harm you with something, they would not be able to harm you with anything except that which
Allah has already recorded against you."
[Tirmidhi].

Knowing this should empower us, because we thereby know that everything that happens is by the permission of Allah. This should not prevent us from reflecting and trying to figure out how our actions played a role, but learning from an experience is part of Contentment...because you trust that Allahu, Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala, is teaching you a lesson through trial.
