Thanks for your reply Miriam.
The Qur'an is the speech of Allaah, and it is His revelation to His Messenger. The final Messenger of Allaah, Muhammad (peace be upon him) was an illiterate man (which is something praiseworthy since it's a proof that he never copied anything from other scriptures.)
The reason why i explained the concept of Jesus son of Mary not telling people to worship him using the bible as a piece of common ground was due to the fact that you realise that this wasn't the call of Jesus, i.e. to call people to worship him. Rather he called everyone to worship the One above the heavens as explained earlier, and this was the message of ALL the prophets of God, and Jesus son of Mary was not an exception to this.
God says in His final revelation:
We sent not a messenger except (to teach) in the language of his (own) people, in order to make (things) clear to them. Now Allah leaves straying those whom He pleases and guides whom He pleases: and He is Exalted in power, full of Wisdom.
[Qur'an Abraham 14:4]
Allaah guides those who are sincere, and those who want His reward. We all hope to be of the successful in this life and the next, ameen. Yet those who are rebellious continuously strive for disbeleif over God's forgiveness, reward and Mercy, so God leaves them astray in their misguidance due to their arrogance and disbelief.
The verse i quoted is an explanation that ALL the Prophets of God came to their people to call to the worship of God, our Creator, Sustainer Alone and they made this clear and apparent. The people of before believed in God, yet they prayed to others along with God since they felt that these dead people or stone idols would intercede for them. Yet why not pray to the One and Only God who is Alone worthy of worship? This was their excuse:
When it is said to them: "Follow what Allah hath revealed:" They say: "Nay! we shall follow the ways of our fathers." What! even though their fathers Were void of wisdom and guidance? [Qur'an 2: 170]
Their messengers said: "Is there a doubt about Allah, The Creator of the heavens and the earth? It is He Who invites you, in order that He may forgive you your sins and give you respite for a term appointed!" They said: "Ah! ye are no more than human, like ourselves! Ye wish to turn us away from the (gods) our fathers used to worship: then bring us some clear authority."
Their Messengers said to them: "We are no more than human beings like you, but Allah bestows His Grace to whom He wills of His slaves. It is not ours to bring you an authority (proof) except by the Permission of Allah. And in Allah (Alone) let the believers put their trust.
"And why should we not put our trust in Allah while He indeed has guided us our ways. And we shall certainly bear with patience all the hurt you may cause us, and in Allah (Alone) let those who trust, put their trust."
And those who disbelieved, said to their Messengers: "Surely, we shall drive you out of our land, or you shall return to our religion." So their Lord inspired them: "Truly, We shall destroy the Zalimun (polytheists, disbelievers and wrong-doers.).
"And indeed, We shall make you dwell in the land after them. This is for him who fears standing before Me (on the Day of Resurrection or fears My Punishment) and also fears My Threat."
But they (the Messengers) sought victory and help [from their Lord (Allah)], and every obstinate, arrogant dictator (who refuses to believe in the Oneness of Allah) was brought to a complete loss and destruction.
[Qur'an 14: 10-15]
Islaam which means submission to God was the religion of Jesus son of Mary and all the Prophets of God inc; Noah, Abraham, Moses, Jesus, Muhammad, and you can agree yourself that there are many different versions of different saints, yet there is no Gospel of Jesus himself. For the different saints - there are different translations, but if it really is God's message - shouldn't it still be intact till today? How do we know which translation is correct if there is none in the original language to compare it with?
We know that the Gospel was revealed to Jesus son of Mary, yet it got distorted and this is well known as we can see today. So God should send a final Messenger to confirm what came before right? And this final revelation which He has sent to all of mankind clarified what came before and cleared up all the misconceptions people have.
Indeed, those who disbelieve in Allah and His messengers and wish to discriminate between Allah and His messengers and say, "We believe in some and disbelieve in others," and wish to adopt a way in between -
They are in truth disbelievers. And We have prepared for the disbelievers a humiliating torment.
And those who believe in Allah and His Messengers and make no distinction between any of them (Messengers), We shall give them their rewards, and Allah is Ever Oft*Forgiving, Most Merciful.
The people of the Scripture (Jews) ask you to cause a book to descend upon them from heaven. Indeed they asked Musa (Moses) for even greater than that, when they said: "Show us Allah in public," but they were struck with thunder clap and lightning for their wickedness. Then they worshipped the calf even after clear proofs, evidences, and signs had come to them. (Even) so We forgave them. And We gave Musa (Moses) a clear proof of authority.
And for their covenant, We raised over them the Mount and (on the other occasion) We said: "Enter the gate prostrating (or bowing) with humility;" and We commanded them: "Transgress not (by doing worldly works on) the Sabbath (Saturday)." And We took from them a firm covenant.
Because of their breaking the covenant, and of their rejecting the Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.) of Allah, and of their killing the Prophets unjustly, and of their saying: "Our hearts are wrapped (with coverings, i.e. we do not understand what the Messengers say)" - nay, Allah has set a seal upon their hearts because of their disbelief, so they believe not but a little.
And because of their (Jews) disbelief and uttering against Maryam (Mary) a grave false charge (that she has committed illegal sexual intercourse);
And because of their saying (in boast), "We killed Messiah 'Iesa (Jesus), son of Maryam (Mary), the Messenger of Allah," - but they killed him not, nor crucified him, but the resemblance of 'Iesa (Jesus) was put over another man (and they killed that man), and those who differ therein are full of doubts. They have no (certain) knowledge, they follow nothing but conjecture. For surely; they killed him not [i.e. 'Iesa (Jesus), son of Maryam (Mary) ]:
But Allah raised him ['Iesa (Jesus)] up (with his body and soul) unto Himself (and he is in the heavens). And Allah is Ever All*Powerful, All*Wise.
And there is none of the people of the Scripture (Jews and Christians), but must believe in him ['Iesa (Jesus), son of Maryam (Mary), as only a Messenger of Allah and a human being], before his ['Iesa (Jesus) or a Jew's or a Christian's] death (at the time of the appearance of the angel of death). And on the Day of Resurrection, he ['Iesa (Jesus)] will be a witness against them.
[Qur'an 4: 150-159]
