I decided to make a thread for those of us applying this year for University in the UK primarily (and elsewhere). Maybe we can share our anxieties, and inshaAllah joyous moments together!
I sent of my UCAS on the 14th of October. I'm applying for dentistry, with two back-up courses.
University of Bristol - Dentistry - Acknowledgment
University of Leeds - Dentistry - Acknowledgment
University of Cardiff - Dentistry - Nothing what so ever ! (anyone applying here?)
University of Bristol - Neuroscience - Interview/UCAS Open Day
King's College London - Biomedical Sciences - Offer (ABB)
The wait is killing me... I suppose i just have to concentrate on getting good grades anyways :S
^^ I do know of someone who's going to Warwick next year...I think he's planning on doing a joint degree in maths and physics...but that's about all I know :X.
Yh thats where and what I applied for but changed my mind
Just been skimming through this thread... The future is so weird. It's so interesting to see older posts trying to figure out what was going to happen next.
Anyway, how is everyone enjoying their last summer before university starts? Where did you all end up going, what did you end up doing? When do you start? Looking forward to it?

Ooooo university! I would say 'I can't wait' but that would be a lie. I'm, honestly, in no hurry, what so ever, to grow up.
I've always wanted to study in the UK...
but have since been completely put of by this thread. For one thing you start school/uni in the middle of the year . Anyway, may Allah (SWT) bless you all and your knowledge seeking endeavours.
It is usual to start a course in the UK in October but if you look around you will see that some courses may start at other times and often that other time is in January.
Dear Allah. I pray that whoever reads this message shall have your comfort, joy, peace, love, & guidance. I may not know their troubles, but you do. Please keep protecting us. Ameen.
^Thank you!
Oh, which reminds me- I'm probably going to minor in International Studies inshaAllah, so I'll know a little about what you'll be studying! :P
You apply during your senior year, usually the deadline is sometime in June, or you can apply earlier and get early acceptance. They accept you on the basis of your previous high school grades, not necessarily your senior year. So unless you completely screw up your grades in your final year, you know of your acceptance/rejection early on.
I applied in February and got conditional offers, one of the conditions was my Finnish matriculation examination (our final exams). I was able to do my final exams in March/April and got my grades in June, then I forwarded them to the Unis and in August I got firm offers. Elhamdulillah.
How odd, I was thinking I got a late reply... But then again I remember The Ruler hadn't gotten her grades yet, she'd get them first somewhere in August I think... In my opinions that's quite late and shouldn't be that way.

Do you know how stressful that is? not knowing whether you will enter uni until a week before it starts, especially if you think you've messed up.
Over here you get offers depending on first year grades, then your acceptance depends on your overall final grades, its all because of competitiveness.

high school grades as in gcse's, o-levels? if so you're lucky
We don't have any of those, just your regular school grades- there's the SAT though, but you do that in grade 11, so you don't have to wait for the score to come out. And yup alhamdullilah, it's so less stressful than what you've described, lol.
Yes, I deffo know how stressful it is and inshaAllah be patient. Everything happens what must happen. Until I got confirmed places to study, I seriously feared for the upcoming year, but Allah, elhamdulillah, helped me in the end.
Now when will the course you applied for start? In October or?
