Re: MB BS - Medical course

Well I've been working in a medical environment since monday and I've been really guided through to what I should do if I want to be a student of medicine.

That course is the basic of all qualifications, you then go on to doing a BSc which is another year...time varies depending on what exactly you want to specialise in.

    All the best.

Re: MB BS - Medical course

^^ I've heard that if you do a BSc degree first and then apply to med as a graduate then they tend to take off some years from your med course (depending on uni and course outline). This route is time consuming but for those who couldn't get into med with their A-levels then have another oppertunity to study medecine.

Studying med is highly admirable but most of the time it seems to lower the value of other professions. Every parent want their kid to be a Dr, what about the other professions. Don't they have a significance???

lol sister that is a valid point, there are many who don't want to, but are only fulfilling their parents' desires, but there are also many who really want to do it from their own choice and they may have future goals in which they wish to achieve with the help of this profession, perhaps?

If you honestly believe you want to do this, then inshAllah go for it. I always wanted to do medicine but I didnt get through. At the time I was devastated but I truly believe it was for the best because Allah is the best of planners. Ive gone into a slightly less demanding career which is most suitable for me.

When you are looking into your career I suggest you sincerely pray for guidance and the path which will benefit your akhira. Your intention for pursuing such a career should be to please Allah swt aswell as fulfilling your interest in medicine.

    Wish you all the best

    ....If thou knowest not thy God, thou art a slave of men;
And if thou dost, thy slaves are kings and potentates.
The heart’s freedom is kingly; its slavery is death,
It is for thee to decide — to be a king or a slave.

I'm trying to pull up my socks, but it seems a little late.

uve got time...ur only '14' after all... nudge nudge...

a little advice tho...i spent my whole highschool life planning, hoping and praying to get into a bpsych...i wud have died for it...

then...around two weeks or so before the undergrad submissions were due in, i changed my mind...i wanted to do barts...and eventually become a teacher...

i got the marks for the psych...but my heart didnt want it anymore...

i am now finishing second year, and no longer want to become a highschool teacher and would rather go into reaserch and stay at uni and just teach or something...

i also regret not opening my mind enuf to realise that perhaps journalism, media communications was the best degree for me.

Allahu alam bro...i just wana say, dnt lose hope, bt dnt restrict urself to one path or one field...it is always good to think of a career, but the way you get there is also very important...a lot of interventionary factors will emerge as u study, and get in the way of what u plan for.just do ur best in ur *insert random letters for that exam thing* and go with the flow.make dua.
