So how did you spend your first day of Ramadan? and what did you break your fast on?
This day went rather fast (for me) I was sleep deprived for a few days, and though we had guests today I could barely keep my eyes open..
I woke up 15 mins shy of breakfast.. we had a feat but I wasn't very hungry.. to be honest I still want to sleep some more.. it is catching up with me the deprivation of the past two weeks...
we had rotisserie chicken today, some spinach burek?
stuffed courgettes except ours were stuffed with meat
taro soup
lamb chops
other things which I can't remember as I wasn't sitting on that side of the table..
for drinks we had
Roselle
milk and that thing calles 'khoshaf' I don't know what that is in English..
and qatayef for desert
which I don't care for, so I had oatmeal instead..
I was looking at myself talking to myself and I realized this conversation...I was having with myself looking at myself was a conversation with myself that I needed to have with myself.
al7mdlillah me and my parents are now starting on the 6 of shawaal and after the gross over-eating and the amount I consumed yesterday I'd say walahi fasting is the cure.. I don't feel hungry when fasting, yet have such hunger pangs when I have just had breakfast and I can't explain it.. 1:30 to breakfast time insha'Allah we're having spaghetti and meatballs..

Every time I saw food today, I involuntarily averted my eyes and then smiled to myself when I remembered that I wasn't fasting anymore. And then I took a drink at every water fountain I passed just because I could
The only Muslim friends my wife and I had were from Turkey. The sister was an equisite cook and they generously invited us over often. We met right after I started practicing Islam at the carnival for kids set up in the parking lot of the local mall. I noticed the hijabi sister and approached the brother to ask if he was a Muslim.
I loved going to their home for fabulous Turkish food until they moved away in 2004.
