I just noticed that the threads in the advice and support section seem to require mod approval.
Whilst I can understand that moderation may be necessary at times to avoid inappropriate topics I would like to point out that this section is the place where people sometimes express desperate thoughts/feelings and need urgent advice.
Having their thread waiting in a mod queue could cause unnecessary delay for those brothers and sisters.
I would like to ask the mods the reconsider the rule.
Thank you

I echo what glo said. An alternative would be to assign more moderators to the Advice & Support section, enabling increased efficiency in approving threads in that section.
"I spent thirty years learning manners, and I spent twenty years learning knowledge."
There are 4 Moderators + 3 Super Mods + 4 (active) Admins who currently review threads in that section, which is 11 people total. Generally the wait isn't too long.
Btw, there are currently no threads awaiting approval.
"...You are my Walî in this world and in the Hereafter. Cause me to die as a Muslim, and join me with the righteous." [Surah Yusuf 101]
That sounds like a fair number of mods, Jawhara.
The thread which prompted my request was somebody expressing suicidal thoughts. Not the kind of thing which wants to wait a day for approval, I think ...
Like I said, it is just a thought and a suggestion. The final decision rests with the mods.

I think it was precisely these suicidal topics (as well as other lewd ones) that led to the introduction the of the approval system. Suicide is a serious topic and we don't really have professional counsellors on board who can advise properly. It wasn't a rule I agreed with at the time, if I remember correctly, but it was put in place and I do think it works out pretty ok. Threads rarely are left unapproved for more than a few hours.
Threads such as the one you mentioned wouldn't usually be approved. I'm guessing the approver had in mind the thread starter's question on whether suicide is ok or not, when it was approved, though.
I completely agree that suicidal thoughts are not something which can or should be dealt with in a forum such as this.
Out of interest, do such threads just tend to go unapproved, or does the OP receive a reply (Perhaps with a link/contact to suitable agencies which are equipped to offer support. The Samaritans, for example, offer 24-hour emotional support. (BTW, despite the name, they are not a religious organisation! (just in case you were wondering ...))
Peace

Nice suggestion it has a nice concept. I think you guys should still get PMs when a new thread is posted so you can see the content but it will still be instantly posted. Yes if someone has a problem that needs advice in serious matters that need instant help to wait till something horrible happens. But remember glo this is an Islamic community where we are not all gifted to give advice on non islamic problems and people should understand that and post likewise. If you have something that you think one individual can answer you could use the PM system.
But I say it is a suggestion the Admins/staff should take that suggestion in consideration and inshAllah we can all pitch in a few suggestions and we can work together around this and find a solution to benefit all members in every way we can.
