Marwen made a great thread here to post your fav. meal with pictures and even a recipe if you have one, so I thought it would be complimentary to also have a dessert thread. (Imraan also make a snack thread here.)
They are called forgotten cookies, because you can make them before bedtime and "forget" about them until you wake up in the morning. The traditional method is made this way:
Heat oven to 400 degrees F.
IN a bowl, whip 2 egg whites until stiff. Add in 2/3 cup sugar and continue to whip until stiff. With a spoon, gently stir in chocolate chips and nuts. (The choc. and nuts are optional. Or put something else or eliminate one of those.)
Line a cookie sheet with foil and grease the foil. Drop by spoonfuls onto the greased foil. Place into the oven and then turn off the oven. Leave it overnight (forget it!). If you make them this way it is important to TURN OFF the oven after you put the cookies in and do not open the oven to peek at all.
If you do not want to make them overnight, a second option is to only heat your oven to 325.... make the cookies and then bake them for about 2-3 hours. Keep checking on them until they begin to very, very slightly brown on top. After 2 hours if they are looking set, but not slightly brown yet, you may want to turn off the oven and leave them in for the remainder of the time.
