Today Muslims need to distinguish between 'Salafis' and the true way of the Salaf, and between 'Sufis' and the true way of Tasawwuf; in the same way non-Muslims need to distinguish between 'Muslims' and the true practice of Islam. You will only know the authenticity of the former by knowing the reality of the later.
On the authority of an-Nu’man ibn Basheer (ra), who said:
I heard the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) say, “That which is lawful is clear and that which is unlawful is clear, and between the two of them are doubtful matters about which many people do not know. Thus he who avoids doubtful matters clears himself in regard to his religion and his honor, but he who falls into doubtful matters [eventually] falls into that which is unlawful, like the shepherd who pastures around a sanctuary, all but grazing therein. Truly every king has a sanctuary, and truly Allah’s sanctuary is His prohibitions. Truly in the body there is a morsel of flesh, which, if it be whole, all the body is whole, and which, if it is diseased, all of [the body] is diseased. Truly, it is the heart.” [Bukhari & Muslim]
Maulana Abdul Hameed Is-haaq, on using high-pan toilets:
"We were once in Stanger, and an ‘Aalim who was the host asked Hazrat, “Do you want to use the high chair toilet?” Hazrat immediately said, “I am not a Chairman! Here you become a chairman by sitting on a high chair toilet. You can’t become a chairman in society or any community organization so you put a chair toilet in your house, so at least every now and then for five minutes you can become a ‘Chairman’.”
"Another thing is that no matter how much we speak English, our tongues are never going to get white. Similarly, no matter how much we use the high toilet, our bottoms will never become white."

//A Reminder to Everyone.1. Do not speak about your money in front of a poor person.
2. Do not speak about your health in front of a sick person.
3. Do not speak about your power in front of a weak person.
4. Do not speak about your happiness in front of a sad person.
5. Do not speak about your freedom in front of a prisoner.
6. Do not speak about your children in front of an infertile person.
7. Do not speak about your Mother and Father in front of an orphan. Because their wounds cannot bear more.
