On Wednesday longtime National Public Radio (NPR) news analyst Juan Williams was abruptly fired for controversial statements he made about Muslims.

Ibrahim Hooper, National Communications Director of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) suggested that Williams was not a “good fit” for NPR because he was “increasingly leaning towards the right” while NPR had a "more liberal viewpoint.” I know a lot of Muslims are rejoicing his termination, but I feel compelled to defend him for a number of reasons.
