When Asma bint Abi Bakr رضي الله عنها used to cook tharid (a special type of food), she used to cover it a while till the steam stopped, then she used to say,:
" I heard the Prophet صلي الله عليه وسلم saying:
" Verily, doing so allows for a greater degree of
blessings."
Takhreej:
{ Imam ibn Hibban in his Saheeh 7/321}
Abu Hurairah رضي الله عنه said:
" Food should not be eaten until it's steam goes away."
Takhreej:
{ Imam Al Baihaqi in his Sunnan 7/2580 and graded as Saheeh by Shaykh Al Albaani رحمهم الله }
Imam Ibn Al Qayyim رحمه الله commented:
The Prophet صلي الله عليه وسلم would not eat food while it was intensely hot. And again, blessings in this context means safety from harm as a result of eating, the nourishment provided by the food, and strength achieved for obeying Allaah عزوجل.
{ Zaad ul Ma'aad }
Allowing the food to cool does not mean eating the food cold; rather, cooling it such that it is not boiling and hence possible to eat comfortably.
